On the day before New Year's Eve, this guy flew from the sea and landed himself on a chair at Paphos Harbour and behaved pretty badly :lol:

Hi GammaGragon, nice pic and video. :-) I'd say thats the "usual" guy, Paphos harbour is famous for. There are lots of stories that a pelican "lives" there.....

I did wonder :lol: I thought he was maybe lost, looking for Luxor, so came to Cyprus to ask directions :D

The White Pelican Pelecanus onocrotalus is quite a common passage migrant Sep to Nov and more rarely Jan to May. Rare in December, though. They are also sometimes a b....y nuisance, as this one, and also at Agia Napa, being prolific guano factories. Hence the expression, "Oh! No! Crot, all us covered!"

In the USA, the Brown Pelican is a spectacular diver and I've spent hours watching them on the Californian and Floridian coasts. The White, though, doesn't do it. It swims along, driving fish into the shallows, where it scoops them up.
