opportunuties for T/C not to loose their determination on cyprus issue...

- In spite of these disadvantages this new state of affairs has provided us with important advantages, primarily the Turkish Cypriot people’s democratic dynamism by which they have proven their willingness for a solution in Cyprus and its will at the Referendum of 24th of April.

- Important international documents which certify the politically rightfulness of the Turkish Cypriot people furnish us with new opportunities. For example the report submitted the UN Secretary General to the UN Security Council in the aftermath of 24 April is one of these.

This report openly points to the will shown by the Turkish Cypriot people towards the unification of the island. The Secretary General with this report calls on the world to lift the isolations on the Turkish Cypriot Community.

- Within this context, in spite of the efforts exerted by Greek Cypriot sovereign forces in particular to remove the solution of the Cyprus problem from the framework of the UN and place it within the framework of the EU since Cyprus became a EU member on 1 May without reaching a settlement, the continued determination of the political centres in the world, primarily EU, that the place for the solution of the problem should be UN is an important gain.

- In addition to this, for the first time, the modalities of the internal trade within a EU member- state are to be set out by the provisions of a Regulation (Green Line Regulation) and declaration of this by EU, which regulates its internal trade with a regulation (The Green Line Regulation) and for this to be declared by the EU.

- This is an EU document which is tantamount with telling the administration in the South that claims to have become EU member in the name of the whole of Cyprus of “you are not the government of the Turkish Cypriots.” In reality the Green Line Regulation is a political defeat for the Papadopoulos administration. In connection with this regulation the liberation of the movement of the people from the North to the South and from the South to the North, irrespective of the port of entry…

- In spite of various difficulties and even though they still have not been resolved on, failure of the Greek Cypriot sovereign forces to eliminate the “Financial Aid Regulation” and “Direct Trade Regulation”, which is still being debated by the EU organs.
- The greeting of the PACE extended to the “Yes” Vote of the Turkish Cypriot People in the aftermath of the Referendum and at last the adoption of the resolution for the representation of the Turkish Cypriot community in the international arena

- The Turkish Cypriot Community’s saying “Enough” to the status quo in the North with the 24th April Referendum and the continuation of the same determination after the 24th April.

- Besides the minority voting “Yes” at 24th April Referendum, an increase in the evaluations and the questionings of this state of affairs, within the Greek Cypriot Community.

- The opening of the way of the EU process of Turkey and with the effect of the new political atmosphere caused by Turkey’s support of the EU process, a lessening in the political effectiveness of those who advocate the perpetuation of the non-settlement of the Cyprus problem.

- The need to take up anew, in the aftermath of 24th April, the established political evaluations of the Cyprus policy so far, upon the decision of the Turkish Cypriot people in favor of the unification of Cyprus in the world and European countries and the start of a change in the viewpoints concerning the Turkish Cypriot people. In addition, expression of the rightful position of the Turkish Cypriot people who advocate a settlement in Cyprus by many political tendencies in Europe and the open expression of many opinions in this area in the media of the world and Europe… For example besides activities realized in this area by the Greens in Europe, evaluations on the latest situation made by many Euro-parliamentarians, MPs from various countries and officials of various NGOs.
