Sorry, there is no way I want to live in a country with that much crime, unemployment, drug problems and guns...
Maybe if they sorted themselves out rather than try to solve the rest of the worlds issues, I might change my mind..

my nation helped free the jews, the gays, and any other minority in nazi germany. my country is bring equality to all iraqis. no one said it was going to be easy, and that thre wouldn't be rough spots. space exploration has done alot of good for the world, see this website for a list of how the space program has benefited us all:

hooray for our right to bear arms! hooray for the ease of starting my own business after being unemployed, and making a hell of alot more money than i have ever made before. horray that i don't have to go to jail for years and years because i possess a little marijauna for personal use! legalize pot! oversee the producution and quality, tax the crap outta it, and use that money to put the harder drug dealers out of business. horray that i live in this wonderful land! |

GorillaGal, thank you for your response to my observations, I assure you that I have considered at great length all the comments I have made. I have never indicated that I hate America, nor have I made any effort to enforce my views upon you, the basis of my contribution to this topic is clearly a matter of opinion from a person who has seen a great deal of the 'help' your country has inflicted upon them, if you cannot grasp the significance of those facts that are illustrated almost daily, I can only expect the same retorts from your end. I do wish you would look at the world situation peripatetically, you will find that the Westernization of Eastern cultures is most unwelcome and will continue to be so for as long as people have a blinkered view, you must surely be aware of the internal upheavals your nation has faced (and surmounted), how your nation was formed (and at whose expense), surely you can understand the resentment felt by others even if you dis-regard the recent controversies. I do not, nor do I suspect others, direct our adverse comments to the ordinary people of America, they are also exploited in the same manner as we are, the difference is that we are in the firing line, ordinary folk, not military troops, may I also remind you that this is a 'Cyprus' forum, your condemnations and insults from afar are as unwelcome as the policies of your democratically elected government. i have never insulted cyprus as a nation, just perhaps the ignrance of some people that want to put my country down at every chance they can take. even on threads that are started with absolutely no reference to the USA, the hatred seems to seep in.
may i remind you that i am here because i happen to have fallen in love with a GC, and therefor want to learn whatever i can about your country and your ways. i am planning my next vacation to come visit Cyprus. but i am american, and as long as this forum puts down the americans, i will be here to defend my great nation. |

1. (Your right to bear arms), it is not that which we find objectionable, it is your predisposition to 'bare' your breasts and bottoms at puberty which we find so disgusting, we don't wish our daughters to adopt those habits.
2. ( the ease of starting your own business), if it is truly your own, why should it not be easy to start ?, a little indication of governmental brainwashing here perhaps.
3.(Your fondness of Marijuana), a method used by early cultures in various forms to ensure peace and harmony existed between them all, nowadays used as a block against reality, obviously a useful tool for governments in order to ensure that the subjects enjoy a FALSE sense of well-being.
Finally, are you not aware of the vast sums of money generated by the 'Drug Dealers' and, assuming you are, do you not think that such a situation corrupts the very authorities that should be condemning it ?, thank you but that is another American feature that we respectable people do not wish to embrace. |

Eliko , I live in South London and have done so since 1961 when I came to the UK from Cyprus.
May I say that as eloquently as you try to hide your dislike of the USA and most probably the West as well , you come out loud and clear. From a scale of 1 to 10 in the repugnancy field I would say that 9/11 to you was round about 1 .
