Postby Pete_D » Tue Jan 09, 2007 5:25 pm

Hi there, just joined this forum looks quite interesting, some good info from here. I'm from UK but my parents have retired to Pafos (Kamares) and having finally conquered a flying phobia I'm visiting them at last (but flying back tomorrow :(). Anyone else on here from Pafos?

Cheers,
Pete

Welcome newb ;) I have a bit of flying phobia too since Helios plane crashed! I don't know why. I guess until then I had this unconscious feeling that only the planes of others fall!! Now I know better :( But hey, traveling is great. It worth the risk ... I guess! :? ;)

Hey - I've just spotted there are new posts in this thread! (dunno why I didn't get a notification e-mail about it).

At the time of that Helios crash my Mum was visiting the UK for a short holiday, and she was supposed to be flying on Helios on the way back.... so that was a bit worrying at the time....

If you think about it what are the chances of a second plane of the same company falling at the same period? Not a lot I think!

Plus, after the first one you know for sure that they will be MEGA MEGA careful to make sure that such a thing won't happen again!

So, paradoxically, an airline company which has had a crash is actually one of the safest airlines!

Anyway must go, I have a long e-mail to write to someone before I can go to bed!

Flying is 100% safe, it is just crashing which is fairly dangerous :-)
