Turkey probes Dink suspect video
Photo dated 21 January 2007 shows suspect Ogun Samast with Turkish flag
The suspect posed with a Turkish flag next to security officials
A probe has begun in Turkey after a man charged with killing a Turkish Armenian journalist appeared in a video posing with police and the national flag.
Footage showed Ogun Samast, 17, in front of one flag and holding another while uniformed police posed with him.
The images caused shock in Turkey, with one newspaper suggesting the teenager was treated like a hero.
He is accused of killing Hrant Dink, who was shot dead outside his newspaper offices in Istanbul on 19 January.
Mr Dink was well-known for writing controversial articles about the mass killing of Armenians by Turks during World War I. He had been the target of multiple death threats from Turkish nationalists.
His murder triggered anger and shock across Turkey.
'Shoulder to shoulder'
Several Turkish television stations showed the footage, said to have been filmed shortly after Mr Samast was captured.

The teenager is pictured flanked by security officials, while a voice is heard telling him to tidy his hair.
In the background, a poster shows a quote from Turkish founder Mustafa Kemal Ataturk: "The nation's land is sacred. It cannot be left to fate."
Sabah newspaper accused police of standing "shoulder to shoulder with the gunman", while another newspaper, Vatan, called the images as serious as the killing itself.
Ismet Berkan, editor of the Radikal newspaper, said that the footage proved "that the murderer and his associates are not alone, that their supporters... have penetrated all segments of the state".
Police spokesman Ismail Caliskan said an investigation was under way into officers seen in the footage, as well as into who leaked it to the media. |

| I read somewhere that this guy and his poor family have agreed for this murder with the secret agency of Turkey and that after the teen is convicted he and his family will be given a different name, money and support and taken to another part of Turkey! |

yeah thats what usually happens in Turkey...
i also read somewhere that sometimes, when there is a full moon, some GCs morph into giant beasts with 3 heads, claws and razor sharp teeth who feed on the brains of the TC babies, and some nights, in Lefke, if you listen carefully enough, you can even hear them howl into the dark...

Can't say i'm surprised at this action. It is typical turkey and anyone who thinks diffrent is deluding himself.
This is the same country throwing threats of war against cyprus and at the same time wants to join the EU.
Perhaps people will now see turkey for what she really is.
I notice the likes of ZAN, VP, Shahmaran, and a few others have gone quiet. Doesn't quiet suit them when turkey is kicking up the stink as they only like to blame eveyone else. Come on guys lets hear what you gotta say on this one.
Abusive language get you no where BTW, it just adds to what i been saying along. |

No one has been abusive here YET...but....
....maybe we have gone quiet because we dont see much point in arguing with bigoted ideas as such, its ridiculous for a few people with their heads up their back sides, to start throwing shit at Turkey from their comfy seats in another country, and tell the people who actually LIVE IN Turkey to "start seeing their own country for what it really is", you are nothing but laughable, WE KNOW what Turkey really is, thank you!
If you got anything constructive to add to what we already know, please dont mind me, but if you expect to start a rational debate with such bullshit, half-relevant news article that is meant to epitomize the "REAL face of Turkey" then i suggest you give up right now my friend, have a pleasant night |

Pantheman, change that bloody avatar because talking like butter would not melt in your mouth and looking like you are the offspring of Beelzebub do not go together well.
What do you want me to say on this matter, that it did not happen? There are pictures there and what they mean I have no idea and why those idiots have chosen to take them leaves me no less confused. BUT! Your sweeping statements about Turkey does you less favour than it does Turkey so lets not be too hasty in sticking them all behind bars. |

Shahmaran/Zan
The least you could have done is agree it was wrong of turkeys actions, but hey no, you take up a defensive view which again typifies you. Whats yours is yours and whats mine is still yours attitude.
Please i don't even try to go there, i think i am vindicated in what i have said.
These are not sweeping statements as you put it, just check the facts, but as they do not comply with you motives then of course they can't be right.
What am i supposed to think here is a possible EU partner that wants to shoot the shit from me, oh i love em, please yes yes yes. Get real, you and i both know when someone threatens you, your family, your home you don't just sit back. Do you ???? Because thats exactly whats happened.
So you both have a nice day too. |

There are fanatics in every Country of the world, and before you condemn the whole Turkish government why not wait and see how they (continue) react? Already some police officers have been sacked and the Government is investigating why these pictures were taken. Most of the Turkish people were horrified by this murder - you cannot blame a whole Nation for a few fanatics!! Sadly these people can and do infiltrate in all areas - look how the police turned a blind eye to sectarian murder in Northern Ireland and even altered documents!! I am sorry that this has happened at a time when Turkey is doing her best to change things and prepare for EU membership. Remember that not all Turkish people want to join - and this is their sick way of putting a spanner in the works.
