ooohh bitchy...i wasnt putting rugby down in any way, i was criticising the organisation so stop throwing your rattle out of your pram.

and who said anything about fighting with the Turks? what an unbelieveably stupid comment to make. i'm only interested in the football which is what most people want to see who follow the beautiful game.

I have no interest in football so I repeat in your words

"Greece v Turkey in euro qualifying. like anyones gonna give a fuck about this."

Why would the organisers of a rugby game consult the football calendar

hhmmm well maybe if they organised it on a day when not much else was happening then they'd get more interest. that hard to understand or has all the egg chasing and scrums given you brain damage?

Hi folks, there are arguements on both sides, personaly i'm football mad, maybe thats why my nickname is "Pele" enough said.
Football will always take centre stage thats a simple fact and nothing or no other sport will ever change that, but rugby i would definately support (a real mans game) especialy bringing it to the island which is a momentious achievement in itself, but for pulling in a decent crowd of spectators and getting complete media attention to a particular event dates and times must always be carefuly chosen for maximmum exposure.
May i also take this oppertunity to wish you all the best for the game and the future of rugby on the island of Cyprus.

Highlander,

Thanks for your support. Can't really see what problem have with the day as the Greece :match and the Cyprus match are the ones that clash not the rugby. Our game takes place in the afternoon. LTV have asked us for earlier kick off to allow them to cover both rugby and football and this we have done.

We don't expect to attract the ardent football fairy but we are trying to bring options to the Cyprus sporting calendar. Who says we have brain damage! eyecrazy:

The team will consist of some expats but the major force behind rugby in Cyprus is your own countrymen who got out of this backward island for a time and discovered there is more to life than souvla and shooting things.

like the very noble sport of pushing each other on the ground and then jumping on them? If what we have in Cyprus is backward then in what way rugby is forward? :?
