Any chance of a translation for the dinosaurs amongst us (or maybe only me?) Pls explain.... what's DSL? Assume MCT, ART etc. are channels - English or Greek?
Just researching what TV facilities to have (shortly to move into a new, unfurnished flat) so all information gratefully received. Thanks. |

Hi Marsden.
A Dreambox is a satellite reciever. Cardsharing is an illegal card that goes into the dreambox (reciever) which hacks the codes for satelite channels. Channels where you'd normally pay around £20-£30 you get them on this card. DSL is fast internet, broadband internet. You need to connect your dreambox reciever to your internet which constantly downloads the codes to break the codes for satelite systems.
Cardsharing itself is sharing codes with everyone in the community. Some have a subscription of £15/month, some less, some for free.
To have this system installed, I guess you are looking at around £300 (give or take a few quid).
Now CyTAnet is ready to block this practice by installing filters, so be careful with how you spend your money. Personally, I'd go for a legal system, be it Primehome, MiVision, Cablenet or a satelite system. Its the safebet. |

Thanks Hazza - now feel a bit more informed! On the legal route, is it possible to get BBC Prime and (ok long shot here) the English football matches?? Any ideas re. costs for the 'legal route'? |

MarsdenCuckoo, you can supbscribe to BBC Prime with various satellite packages. Go to any Satellite shop and they can best advise you.
Now for the English footy, this is the best package around, better than Sky Sports in my opinion for coverage of English footy. Its cheap, its legal and you can now pick it up in Cyprus at a very very reasonable rate.

Thanks again Hazza but getting confused again now - that link includes Sky. When we left UK I asked Sky about bringing my Sky box and they said no point as they were not licensed anywhere but the UK... so that's 'illegal' too here? Or are some things more 'illegal' than others??
Spoke to a friend of mine last night; she has a dreambox and uses the internet to get her TV signal so guess that's something similar to what Ninja is talking about..... she lost BBC Prime and -quote: "all the interesting channels" yesterday about 11 am and were off all day - might still be, I don't know. Anyone else have this kind of problem with this type of TV ie is this normal for the pirated services? |
