Hi,
My family are moving to Cyprus to retire. So I have to sort out whether or not I am going to go too. Recent developments in England mean I wont be able to have a future here. I am first of all curious as to how easy it is to get a job and what the wages are like in relation to the cost of living? I know that you dont earn what you would get here in the UK, but, so long as there is some kind of balance between expenses and earnings I'm willing to get by. Further information about me, just so you know my circumstances, I am 22 and single and busy studying music. I plan on living light, I hardly eat anything and have all the material things that I need. Do I stand any chance of making it in Cyprus? I'll also be able to nail down Greek very soon, if that helps. Thankyou for your time, any help will be most appreciated.

In your field (music) it will not be easy to find job in Cyprus. Cost of living is lower in Cyprus but the salaries are even lower. So from financial point of view you will be worst off in Cyprus. Cyprus is good if you can run a successful business, if you are a retiree, or if you are willing to live with less money but in a better climate.

Kimchi .... what a great opportunity Very Happy . The UK is dead (well for the next few years!).

Cypriots still have money to burn to emulate the Brits ... so teach Music, start a school, play in bands .... whatever! ..... the world is your oyster in Cyprus.

Yeah income may appear less, but the lower NI and Tax contributions, and the easy lifestyle MORE than make up for that.

You are so young that all the experience you gain, can be re-invested back in the UK in a few years time when they are back on their feet ... if you are not sold on a future totally in Cyprus by then!.

I've been here 10 months now and the business opportunities have been far better than I expected. Earnings are looking good and the tax/NI is low.

Be open minded and patient. It's worth it!
