Doesn't Kalamars mean squid / octopus? Just what have I been ordering in Greek restuarants all these years?

That's what I was thinking too! Smile But I think squid is kalamari rather than kalamara?

yes thats also kalamari.

im still trying to figure out if "kalamaras" come from the old greek word "kalamari" which i believe is (aside from squid) an old pen which had to be dipped in ink to use for writing.

To me the term "Kalamaras " sounds funny to have a serious meaning behind! It more reminds me of the Fish rather than anything else!

The ancient Greeks used the term "Kalamari" to referer to an Old Pen but I still do not see the relevance of the word that is used! Hope anyone else is more helpful!
