| I'm waiting to find out what my local council tax will be.Can anyone advise what it covers, i.e what services,if any, can I expect for my money |

Council Tax in Cyprus covers everything council tax in the UK covers, from collecting the bins, cleaning the roads and payments to the local police. The council often do less the what you would expect from a typical council in the UK, but they are paid a fraction of that in the UK.
The main things to consider are the bin collection which happen 3 times a week, the policing which happen every time you complain to them and the street lamps which go on when it's dark. I am not sure if different areas have different prices on council tax, does anybody know how pricing on council tax works? |

well i think they do a lot more in cyprus for the money! i e collecting the rubbish 2 or even 3 times a week! and they take everything no matter what and how much you`ve got! in england you are lucky if they come once, some areas are now 1 every two weeks! and the english binmen are fussy they only take what they want to take  a police service that actually turn up straight away when you call them and actually do something about it! these are luxuries we no longer have in england! and in england we are now paying £2000 per year! in cyprus i own 2 houses in livadia, larnaca and in 6 years i have only paid about £60  
i dont know how much it costs elsewhere in cyprus! i know that if you havnt registered the fact that you have built on the land then you pay much less than for a house! hence most cyps dont get official deeds for their houses they just pay for the plot! |
