I have a problem, it's a query that I hope somebody could clear things up. What it is is that I bought a TV for around £400, but because of it's size it would not fit in the space allocated. So I replaced it in the store for a cheaper TV for around £320, which fitted in like a glove. However when replacing it, the store would not give me my money back (price difference) and instead gave me some vouchers (which to be honest I don't want, I would rather have the money).
Am I not entitled to my money back?
I thought consumers had the right of a full refund if the item was unused and returned within a suitable amount of time. I returned it instantly.
Does the European Union not change things in terms of consumer law?
I would appreciate any sensible feedback. |

I believe that "money back" is for faulty goods only - in theory you just changed your mind, so I don't think you can excpect your cash back.

| The store should have a policy on returned goods. M&S for instance do not offer refunds but vouchers. However in the UK you can get your money back. Check what the store's policy is. It should be displayed behind the cash register. |

| Ye but the item did not serve it's purpose. I just checked, the store policy sucks it states "No Cashback on returned items". |

A clever person would have measured the space available and bought the right item straight away.
I would have thought that it would have been common sense and would have certainly avoided all your problems with the shop.

To be honest I adjusted the truth slightly, in fact it was not a TV I ordered, but it is a similar situation. I sometimes adjust the truth so that people canno pinpoint things down, but the situation is the same. I ordered an oven, but I thought it was flat paneled, however the wanted me to have my kitchen cut out and I refused.
But I accept I am not clever, especially when dealing with home improvements. This is the first time I have had to deal with such matters.
The question however still stands. |

| The answer to your question is in their policy. |

| This is Cyprus the great, you might aswell kiss your arse than try to get anything like a refund. I was buying a watch for my son and asked what guarantee did it have and was told NONE, sorry but these are the frustrations of this country, but we are told to accept it or leave and i will get that from people on this site but bottomline its not acceptable for a civilised country, ye right |

| The only company that offers your money back in case you change your mind is Ermes group. the owner of Debenhams , Superhome Centre etc The only condition is to return the product with the receipt in a saleable condition. It is clearly stated in their receipt so do all your purchases from there, and you have nothing to worry.... |
