To remind some of the resident experts the full name of Kossovo is Kossovo-Metohia, and it is not one but two provinces. Metohia is northern Kossovo and mostly Serb. If the principle here is that no community should live under the sovereignty of another, then by rights Metohia should be given the same rights.

The EULEX contingent are in Kossovo now to ensure that the Kossovars will respect the rights of minorities. So far the treatment of minorities has not been up to western standards.

The unemployment rate in Kossovo is 50 per cent. Crime is the main industry and there is no indication it will change soon.

There other cases similar to Kossovo in the west: Spain (Basques and Catalans), Bulgaria, Romania, Corsica, FYROM, but above all the proponents do not recognise the danger that looms ahead. If the existence of a minority puts the integrity of a nation in danger then the tempation will be to expel the minority before it becomes too threatening. Additionally, countries will be very carefull about allowing communities to grow to the point that they become significant minorities.

And one final rhetorical question- will Native Americans and their reservations be given the same rights as the Kossovars? If the USA creates problems for Europe we can return the favor by recognising the American Indian Movement and thorw a spanner in the works. It would be fun to have a Native American Embassy in Brussels.

Nikitas, the correct name is 'Republic of Kosovo',not 'Kosovo-Metohija',which is the Serbia name.

Kosovo IS a country,NOT a Serbia province!

Macedonia is an independent republic that has a name similar to that of the Greek province.Unlike Serbia,Macedonia DOES NOT have a territorial claim to any neighbouring country's territory.Serbia's claim to Kosovo is as legitimate as Spain's claim to Gibraltar,Argentina's claim to the Falkland Islands,& Turkey's claim to northern Cyprus - illegal under international convention!

Read this detailed article and then say goodbye to the notion of a re-united Cyprus.
Until we awake from our coma, we are all just pawns.

VERY VERY INTERESTING READ DES.
I hope the countries condoning and pushing this type of behaviour have the same thing happen them.
Although im sure they have ways to deal will them behind the scenes. While exploiting others for their own needs.
