How do the americans on this forum feel about the up coming elections in america, january 2009 if im not mistaken?
From what i read online and from americans i speak to most will be glad to see Bush gone, and that america is now 5 trillion dollars in debt for this long war in Iraq?
A black man bill clintons wife and i forget who else will run? who would you guys vote for? |

There are always going to be kool-aid drinkers that think Bush is a glorious man. The rest will, indeed, be glad he won't be around much longer to do any more damage.
That said, the most significant issue going right now is the state of the economy. Obama has no vision on what to do about it, Hillary's "plan" is kind-hearted but leaves the underlying issues un-addressed and McCain is so clueless about economics that he's just not competent to do the job.
As far as Iraq goes, other posters have alluded to the posibility that several "permanent" bases are being built there so regardless of who takes over, US presence will not change there.

Oop!  Sorry, no offense intended at squirrel eaters on your side of the pond!
Perhaps I should've said that they're eating opossums (or aardvark - opossum on the half-shell). 
BTW, Bush had a "think" tank and look what happened! The next pres needs to know his/her stuff and none of them do. |

As a Democrat, I would have voted for McCain or Colin Powell 8 years ago, but since that time, they have been both very disappointing. With Powell lying to the UNSC to get us into a war that we need not be in, and McCain kissing Bush's ass for the last 8 years after what Bush did to him in 2000, he is no longer a Hero, but a last shot for the presidency for himself. He will not make it. As a Republican, the Far Right will not vote for him, nor the religious right waco's. He may be a war hero, but he has been a coward to tell the truth when it came to Iraq, other than saying, "we need more boots on the ground" in Iraq. Nothing has changed in Iraq. Just less deaths as we speak.
So I guess "mission is accomplished". 
I would vote for Barack Obama. After generations of injustices towards the Blacks in America, it will serve the whole country and the world as a whole, that a MINORITY can be chosen to be a President. If it can happen in America, then it can happen anywhere. I hope the TC's can take note what can happen in a True Democracy and not the kind in the Middle East, who uses the word "democracy" also, but it's not. In a True Federation and a True Democracy, we too can have a TC as a President of Cyprus. Do we have the vision, is the only obstacle that stands in our way.!! |

I wouldn't touch Obama with a 10 foot pole, Kikapu. What would he do if he takes office? Does anybody know? Does he know? Give me something more tangible than "hope" and "change."
All the women fainting and crying at his rallies is really starting to make me sick. And the talk about Obamaphilia being a "movement..." well, Jonestown was a movement too. If he wins, he's going to have to deliver the steak to match the sizzle - and telling people to volunteer and stop watching TV just isn't going to cut it.
I'm all for a minority winning the presidency - Obama just isn't the right person for the job. Those that live in hope die in despair. |

I could hold my nose and vote for Hillary. We need our Maggot Thatcher. If it comes down to McCain vs Obama, I'll probably vote for a socialist or a libertarian as a protest vote. Such as Brian Moore or Daniel Imperato respectively. Only note is that I'd lean slightly toward Imperato. |
