There were direct flights (Larnaca-Valetta) 3-4 years ago when I went there, but in all honesty Malta was the worse place I've ever been to... |

Yes there is one airline with direct flights: Emirates. It is quite cheap too 221 euros. |

We go every year for a few days as my parents go there for a month every February.
Malta was never a favourite destination of mine as I used to deal with guests complaints after they had been there on holiday in my "past" life..... It's the only place I've visited on a travel educational visit and since, on holiday - that I haven't changed my opinion of it.
I still can't decide whether it's a place that was never finished or if it need knocking down and starting over again!
Saying that though, the Maltese people are extremely friendly and it's probably still one of the cheapest Mediterranean islands for eating and drinking. Cigs are more expensive than Cyprus though!
We always fly directly with Emirates and book online. This year the flights were the cheapest ever for some strange reason. The flight comes in from Dubai and then straight to Malta & vice versa - so, Cyprus gets a direct route both ways. The journey takes around 2 and a half hours - departing most days at 11.30am and returning to Larnaca airport just after 6pm.
Taxi prices are fairly expensive - a return journey from the airport to Bugibba cost us €34 but the hotel and a number of other taxi companies were quoting between €45 and €50. The journey is probably less than half the distance from Limassol to Paphos airport but there is no highway so the route is along winding roads and a couple of town centres.
If you need any help with pointers for flights, accom, transfers etc - give me a shout and I will tell you which ones I use most. |
