As I have done for years, I showed my contempt for politicians by spoiling my ballot paper. Become a bit of a family ritual, going down to the polling station armed with a board marker and scrawling "TURKEY OUT OF CYPRUS" on the polling paper. If nothing else, makes me feel good. |

I use this
http://uk.finance.yahoo.com/currency-converter?u
this is the current trading value of the euro, at this time €1.2720
take of 5 - 6 cents commission so i'd expect to get around €1.20 - €1.21 anything less and they are taking a bit too much |

I find the best rates for hard cash are in the local shops in the tourist areas in CY. I've used them for years without problems. Managed to get 1.24E to £ without commission from these places a few days ago when I'd have been lucky to get 1.21 from the banks. Also if you're changing a large amount you should ask for a better than advertised rate. |

| We were getting 1.23e to the £ last week in Cyprus. Most shops and exchanges quote a better rate than banks and they don't charge commission. Don't change money in your hotel or banks or in UK. The shops will give a higher rate in the hope that you will spend your money there. I always used the Turkish Cypriot chap behind KFC in Larnaca. |
