| I am going to be moving to Cyprus in June and I am a bit nervous as I won't know hardly anybody out there! Is there a group of english people that meet up to socialise? I will be living in Limassol but I can drive so I would be ok to travel a bit. Thanks. |
Here's your first tip of the day, take your name and age of the signature line as you will be bombarded by a bunch of nutters thinking you are just looking for a good time. No offence, but you have had 2 offers of personal emails, yes.
Just ask what you want but keep some annonimity until you are sure you want to reveal yourself to someone.
Best of luck and Cyprus is what you make of it. You reap what you sow as they say. |

By this post you have missed your chance of meeting the locals. If you wanted to mix with the brits, you should have gone to Bognor Regis or Southend. |

I hope you have not taken any offence. I think its silly to join a Cyprus Forum and state that you want to meet expats. They should get around a bit otherwise they will turn Cyprus in to a Benidorm. |

Ofcourse I have been to Southend. During my early exile from Cyprus, it our usual hunting grounds. Later I remember stopping on the main road (before new traffic laws were introduced) with our families and having picnics on the central reservation. If you see any watermelons growing (on the central reservation) , they would be the descendants of the seeds we left behind. Anns auntie lived just behind the Wurzel.
Southend was also the place where I first witnessed open-air sex. My then in-laws (TC) were not impressed at all. |

Aaaahh .... Southend!
What happy memories .... when first we were plucked from sunny Cyprus and arrived in black and white Britain of the 60's and 70's ... our Bank Holiday treat of seeing some greenery was to drive to Southend in my dad's Zephyr 4 or Zodiac something, stop and pick dandelion leaves along the way ( for my mum's favourite dish upon returning home in the evening) ... and then once at Southend, the ultimate treat of a paper plate with rock-candy shaped "English Breakfast" covered in cling-film ... and then perhaps a plastic dome with "scenes of Buckingham palace and guards" ... in a snowstorm ...
Bliss!
Bloody Turks have so much to answer for ...... |

and the nice Brits have something to be thanked for as they took you in during your time of need just the same as they did for me .
The difference is I'm grateful but it appears from many of your postings that you are not

Less "taking in" and more by "kind invitation" .....
..... We were on our way to the States .... but the UK "needed" us more |
