Lets not forget Thrill, if it wasn't for the British, the likelihood is that the modern Olympics would not have been resurrected after WWII. No-one else was willing to host them in 1948 until London stepped in, despite the city still being shattered, an economy on its last legs and a people still suffering rationing.
Although I wouldn't be distraught if France got it, they have been waiting equally as long as London after all, I think a London Olympics would do a huge amount to regenerate the east end of the city and would thus have a far greater legacy than the Paris bid which foresees using current facilities which are largely in the suburbs of the city (if you're been to Stade de France it's actually quite some distance from central Paris).
I think we'll all agree on one thing... New York does not deserve the games... you can just imagine what they'd be like there... |

| It'll all come down to the African vote. France feels that it can secure the votes of Francophone Africa, whereas the British feel they can get the rest. Could be close anyway. May the best city win, I'll be in Cyprus by 2012 anyway (fingers crossed) so it'll be an equally long trip to get to either of them... |
