Louis De Bernieres's new book has received critical comments from critics, but personally I am finding it very, very compelling. I have not got to the end of the book (historically speaking I am at the Galipoli battle) but it sends a neutral and powerful message of unity (and division) to both communities and I suggest you give it a read.

The start of the book speaks of a near paridise in South Western Anatolia, with the Christian and Muslims talking in the street and asking the prayers of Panayia and the Imam (forgive me if I speak incorrectly) and generally mixing like cheese and cheese. It makes you think what could have been had the war and the events of 1922 not happened.

The friendship between Karatavuk and Mehmetik is particularly moving. One day I hope it will be possible for Greeks to be welcome to build a house in Smyrni, and of course the same in Greece for Turks to be welcomed to our community as equals and friends.

It is indeed the full title and I beleive it is available at Amazon online for about ŁUK15, but don't quote me. Well worth it though!
