My favourite food is "Kolokassi", but I can`t enjoy it where I live. But I do have very abundent supplies of maple sirop, blueberries and cranberries.
I am presently studying in Quebec City, Canada. If any of you guys want to send me some Kolokassi or Molokhia by special post, as an early christmas present, then let the record show, I m willing to accept. |

Disturbed by all this talk of poor food in Cyprus - we have been there 3 times in the last two years and the only times we have ever had a bad meal was when we stupidly tried Jackie Ma's in Paphos, and Phukets (again in Paphos).
The main (I think) supermarket in Paphos seemed to do decent food, and their butchers dept. had a leg of ham, but whether it was for sale whole or for carving I don't know. They also seemed to have a good range of cheeses including my favourite (Edam).
We had some oustanding food at the Sports Bar in Episkopi, and whilst the meal we had at Latchi was ok, it was not up to the usual standard but nevertheless edible.
Being a meat lover, I would love to get details of a really good butcher in Cyprus who hangs his meat for a while before offering it for sale - anyone know of a butcher who does that? |

Found a good cheese today: Alphamega (the new one just off the road from, say, the Strovolos Orphanides crossroads towards Nicosia via the Makarios III hospital) has a small wheel of Appenzeller. They also have two types of Gruyère and two of Emmental, but they are factory-made.
No ham, though
Yes, I know a small village butcher who has excellent meat, well hung, and sold at the peak, with lower prices than the supermarkets, but I'm too selfish to publish his name and address as I don't want his quality to suffer |
