Kalispera,

I will be travelling out to North Cyprus next week to check my parents. Intend to cross over to spend some quality time in the South side shakin my thang too, so I'm trying to do some forward planning.

I’ve been reading postings on this section so have some good ideas, but need more! If anyone else can help with the following cultural questions, I would be much obliged.

1. What/where are the happening bars, clubs and live music venues in South Cyprus? I'm into a broad mix: soul/house/funk/reggae/'world'/leftfield.

Probably spend most time in Nicosia but up for travelling further afield for quality experiences.

2. Is it a happening place mid-week or just weekends? Or have I picked the worst time to visit (New Year's come down and all that jazz)?

3. Which local bands/artists (contemporary Cypriot and non-Cypriot flavours) do you rate? Do they perform regularly and if so where, and do they have any music out?

4. Are there any quality record shops (selling contemporary Cypriot and non-Cypriot music)? If so where?

5. Any other contemporary arts places you would recommend: art galleries, theatres, film, dance, etc.

6. Any public/religious holidays during 4 Jan – 11 Jan?

7. Any other tips?

Stick to shaking your booty in London!
Southern CYRONE isnt saying much this winter,
or any other winter at that.
If your looking for the North London vibe, you
shouldnt really be venturing out of the country!

Thanks hon. Was hoping for something new. The north side has even less to offer for entertainment. they got new bar/club open outside Kyrenia called 5 Miles and a new disco (Zeta) in Jasmine hotel. Alexios has sent me a few details to go check out. I best be loading up my MP3 so I can boogie on down wherever I end up! Laughing

Happy New Year.

Ibiza is summer only like our Ayia Napa I think. And how do you know that Alexios is married man? What was he asking you in those PMs? Wink

Woman's intuition! Laughing

Ibiza is an all year round thing - it has a funky 'spiritual' side as well as the summer party scene. Good times happening all the time - just got to know where to look!

Happy New Year!
