Did you hear the song? What do you think about it?

Quote:
LARNACA-born superstar Anna Vissi will be representing Greece in the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest with a song very close to her heart.

Following a selection process on Tuesday, when a committee and the public voted on their favourite of four songs, ‘Everything’ with lyrics by Vissi and music by her ex-husband, Nicos Karvelas, was chosen.

The event was televised live on CyBC-2 and won the most viewers in that time-slot, with an almost 60% of people watching TV at the time tuning in for the show.

The committee was chaired by Mimis Plessas and made up of Antonis Andrikakis, Demetris Starovas, Themos Anastasiades, Christina Politi, Evangelia Piskera, Antonis Karajikos and Rena Kapitsala. Eurovision web-site representatives Sitse Backer of ESCTODAY and Photis Constantopoulos of Oikotimes also shared one vote.

The committee was responsible for 40% of the total votes.

The other songs competing were ‘A Beautiful Night’ with music and lyrics by Pegasus, ‘Who Cares About Love’ by Karvelas and ‘Welcome To The Party’ with music by Demetris Kontopoulos and lyrics by Demetris S.

Participating in the event were popular singer Sakis Rouvas, who will be presenting the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest in Athens in May, last year’s winner Elena Paparizou, and singing legend and Eurovision veteran Nana Mouskouri.

Rouvas’ co-host for the event, Greek-American Maria Menounos, sent in a video greeting.

Special guests performing at the selection process were Cyprus’ entry to the Contest Annette Artani - who will perform ‘Why Angels Cry’ - and the representatives of Turkey, Romania, Norway and Malta.

Speaking before the final selection, Vissi said that she liked all four pieces equally and wanted to sing a song: "That the Greeks will enjoy." She also said that she would put her heart and soul into performing the song at the Contest.

A video will be produced now that the Greek entry has been selected and Vissi will begin a promotion tour of at least 12 European countries.

This will be her third time at Eurovision, having taken part in 1980, for Greece, and 1982.

It is an alright song but nothing special.

I don't think Greece can win second time in a row. If I remember correctly this happened only once by Ireland.

Who knows, maybe Cyprus will win this time Wink

Lets hope Cyprus will get to the final first! We didn't get good position last time so we will have to pass from the first round first Sad
