Cyprus Goodbye Moses.

When I began my journey back to Cyprus late on Monday 12th, I was somewhat apprehensive because it meant that I would arrive on Tuesday 13th and, (though I flush to admit it) I am a little 'tridecaphobic'.

On approaching my home in the mountains,,I was suddenly gripped by a strange foreboding since 'Moses' (my dog) did not bound towards me and knock me over (as is usual) when I have been away from him for any amount of time.

I was greeted instead by one of my associates who informed me that my old and dearly loved companion had been killed in a road accident three weeks ago.

I was not informed earlier as it was decided that the receipt of such news might be detrimental to my performance (I am inclined to agree with that assessment) I am thankful that I was not informed.

That is all I wish to say on the matter, Goodbye Moses. Crying or Very sad

Eliko, I am sad that you are sad and that you didn't get to say goodbye to Moses, but please do not dwell on this loss for too long. Sad

Thank you for your kind thoughts Oracle and may I say that I will by no means dwell on the sadness of my loss for even one fleeting moment.

Moses enjoyed a long and happy life, he was loved and well cared for and he brought joy to my life.

I think it would be an offence were I to suddenly become morose (on account of his passing) since that would be indicative of the fact that his last action was a cause to grieve me.

NO, rather will I remember the fun times and I will inform you of rather an amusing conversation I once had with a Rabbi whilst in Jerusalem, he enquired of me just why did I adopt the name of Moses for my dog, my response was that there were two reasons, firstly , that he would obey every commandment I gave him.

The Rabbi was impressed and asked for the second reason, "Oh, that is easy" I replied, "Moses will readily shit on anybody's doorstep !"

You see, the sadness is already departing from my soul. Wink

I hate to admit it but lost pets have made me sadder than many relatives passing on!

One of our terrapins died some weeks ago and my son cried for a few hours, then gave it a ceremonial burial with home made crucifix. Two days later, he decided to dig the terrapin up again to dry it out for the shell Shocked
