ESTABLISHING TRUST

No relationship can last long without the existence of mutual trust.
Lack of confidence in the intentions of the other leads to continuous
questioning of each other’s motives. Suspicions, misgivings, and
scepticism make it impossible to work together or live together
peacefully. Mistrust causes us to live behind protective shields, hiding
our true feelings, making it difficult for others to get to know us.
Generally, both Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots are
very selective in their memory of
past events, and their description of these events is far from objective.
The past has been distorted beyond recognition by the educational
systems and political propaganda of both sides.
Such one-sided
interpretations of historical events push the two communities further
apart and allow little room for healing processes.
opportunities to hear other sides to the story
to listen to a different interpretation of the past. We
can help each other understand the distortions and to correct the
misperceptions that are widespread in each community. We can
learn that the view of events we have come to accept as the ‘truth' is
biased and one-sided. By listening to another viewpoint, we can
begin to understand our own history better, and we might develop a
desire for correcting our own community’s interpretation and
presentation of the ‘facts.'

DT even if he didn't write it it carries some weight. We can all benefit from it. So I suggest both communities have a Sorry Day, we all apologise to each other and begin the process of reconciliation.

The RoC can rebuilt Instinjo, including the Wallnut trees (and what a beautiful future would that be to watch the wallnut trees grow) and many other such villages and if the old occupants wish to move in well they can move in if not the RoC can provide cheap holiday accommodation to disadvantaged families until such time a solution is found and is decided what will happen. What a welcoming gesture also to our compatriots.

NO DOUBLE DIPPING THOUGH!

I have no problem with this. Halil, do you have a problem with interpretation and presentation of facts?

We can only establish trust when we do not speak with a "forked tongue" don't you agree Halil?.

It's easy for the victor having got what he wants, to establish a status quo in order to enjoy his prize.

How do we comfort the losers?

Want my trust?

Then stop bringing settlers and bring back all the Turkish Cypriots who left the island in years past to setlle in the north. Then I would believe in the sincerity of the Turkish Cypriot administration that it is firstly Cypriot and then Turkish.

Simple!
