YES!

And should Tassos and Talat come out saying anything like this watch them fall withing six months! The SBA have been at the root of the problem all along. Most of the original Zurich agreements and a great chunk of the Annan plan, as well as the European Constitution are devoted to safeguarding this anacrhonism.

Totally agree Nikitas, its because of them that we have the problems today.

Trying to get rid of them, would probably cause us other difficulties.

Correct me if i am wrong (i am sure some will) but my understanding was that this is exactly what Makarios wanted and thats why they (foriegn powers) ditched him.

But i vote for ALL military forces to get off the island and leave us in peace.

I agree the British are one of the reasons we find ourselves in this situation. They created a constitution that wanst going to work and they new very well that it would end up like this. This way there isnt a united country trying to evict them from their bases.

Get rid of all three milatry powers. greece, turkey and the Brits. Then maybe just maybe we can get along. Who know's.

Please educate me if I'm wrong, but as I understand it, if it weren't for the ESBA, you would have lost a lot more than the 37% of your island that is currently occupied?

There are massive financial benefits that the Cypriots enjoy as a result of the British bases .
Furthermore , as we all know , Cyprus is considered a valuable base for the British because of its proximity to a volatile M.East.
It is an undisputed fact , the British confessed to this , that as a guarantor power Britain not only had a legal obligation to intervene but also a moral one. She failed miserably because the government of the day was preoccupied with many internal problems , strikes , inflation , balance of payment etc etc.

I think the SBA should be handed back to the RoC. I would consider if necessary, one of the bases or part of - namely Dhekelia - to be handed over to the UN / EU Peace Keepers after a peace settlement ( to use as a base as necessary).
