brother
I SAY OPEN THE BORDERS WIDE AND LET ALL CYPRIOTS (GC, TC EC AND WHATEVER ELSE OUT THERE) TO GO TO THEIR HOMES, no one wants war and we all want peace but why should we walk all over their god given rights to live where they want, this is not right and i plead with my community to get that sort of thinking out of their minds.

Do you trust GCs intentions brother?? obviously you do not live in Cyprus and have never lived with GCs, all you probably know are those GCs in London who are a long way from home and cling to what they feel they have in common with TCs. Thank god your way of thought is not supported here in TRNC.

We tried to live together in the past didnt work we messed up, whats the use of going back to to flog a dead horse, your trying to make a square peg go into a round hole, wont work.

We are constantly asked to take into account GCs concerns troops, settlers properties, then surely one of our major concerns is our security against GCs both safety wise, politically, we do not want to be swamped by GCs, we want to feel safe in our our own area, we have lived apart for to long to live next door to one another anymore.

Nickp
Nevetheless, hopefully soon everybody will be able to live where ever they want and i'm sure Mr Rauf Denktash will be very happy to be swamped with Greek Cypriot neighbours after all these years. Arrgh, what a retirement that would be.

You said it Nickp, which TC would like to be swamped by GC neighbours, the thought makes me shudder.

VP...you are a blatent partionist who's sole objective is to keep animosity alive between GC and TC. At the end of the day, the political groups and feelings of the past are almost gone. Its people like you who try your best to keep the probelms alive and keep the pseudo state of 'TRNC' runing...and what do you really know about the Cypriots in London!?. Many of us have very strong links in Cyprus and know what is going on first hand. I myself talk to my dads side of the family regularly...and even though they lean to the right (WHICH DOENST MEAN THEY ARE ULTRA NATIONALISTS...they are not bad mind, they are just not leftist)...they have no problem with TC...just with Turkey as a government. Its people like you who bring about the bad feeling in Cyprus because you seem to be very nationalistic toward the Turkish government.

I lived in cyprus for six years but i never come across these super nationalists that you talk about that want partition in great numbers, i know my community and believe that once all the nitty gritty of property etc. is solved they will and can live with their gc brothers and sisters but the super nationalists like you VP can fuck off to turkey and live there if you like.

Well, brother, the Turkish Cypriots who are aged over 50 are usually against the idea of "living with Greek Cypriots" plus the Turkish Cypriots living abroad, i.e. Londoners. Even my parents were against the unification, but I forced them to vote Yes in the referandum. As I told before, reconciliation of the two sides needs time, and in the meantime the derrogations must be implemented for only a short period of time. I am against the permanent restrictions. By the way, your language is not getting better here. Are you sure your account was not hacked? 8)

The TCs that don't want to live together with GCs have various reasons.

1- Most of the TCs who lost their loved ones in 1955-74 period.(%10)

2- Most of the TCs who wants reunification but felt frustrated because of the negative stance of GC leadership(majority rule, nullification of treaty of guarantee and treaty of alliance, return of all GC refugees, etc.(%20)

3- Ultra Nationalists and bigots.(%5)

What percent of GCs don't want to live together with TCs and why? I only know that %76 of GCs don't want to live togther with TCs in unified Cyprus as it is envisaged in Annan 5.

What the percentage of GCs who don't want to live together with TCs because of the loss of their loved ones in 1955-1974 period?

What the percentage of bigot, ultra nationalist GCs who don't want to live togther with TCs?

Having been born there, educated and lived there for most of my life you will appreciate that I know TCs in London very well being one of them.

Many of us have very strong links in Cyprus and know what is going on first hand. I myself talk to my dads side of the family regularly

Not the same as living here on the island believe me on that one, you dont have to live this issue everyday its all around us.

Its people like you who bring about the bad feeling in Cyprus because you seem to be very nationalistic toward the Turkish government

As I said before I voted YES in the last referendum to the Annan plan, if I was extreme nationalist then I would have backed Denktas and voted NO, but the referendum helped me see that no matter how we cook up a plan one side will always say no, why keep this pretence and political game up we are only kidding ourselves, and really move towards a solution that would not force GCs to unite with a community where they would have to share anything but the island, we are entitled to 18% of land plus we could negotiate to increase this amount to a percentage where we are unable to return land previously owned by GCs by offering compensation in return for a clean partition, this route appears to be the only way we could even come close to agreeing on anything otherwise we will be arguing the same issues for the next 100 years and still get nowhere. We will never feel comfortable trusting GCs to work with us to build a united Cyprus we will be in constant fear of being double crossed as the first opportunity, they have even recently displayed this en route into the EU.
All the debates on this forum support my arguement that we are two different people who want different things why force both to want the same thing if we can go our seperate ways and get what we want then all be it, lets bring this issue to a close where no one will feel unsecure or threatened and for me thats partition.

Obviously you werent looking very hard plenty of us about and the numbers are increasing everyday, open your eyes and ears next time you look.

What can I say to language like this??, should I stoop to your level, no what ill say im staying put in Northern Cyprus and I love my country and people and if that means i am a nationalist then i accept this label with pride.
You are not mature enough to realize that you will never agree anything with GCs mentality as long as they do not see us as partners on this beautiful island.

For your information Im under 50, and was pro unification until the referendum which just confirmed that the commitment for a unified Cyprus is not a real one however many plans come and go, however many meetings take place it will result in failure.

Its very ignorant of you to think that because 76% of GC voted no to the Annan plan...that there are 76% of GC who do not want reunification. The Annan plan only favoured the Turkish government, no one else. Why should the Greek Cypriots who want reunification feel obliged to vote for something so ridiculous. At the end of the day, you keep on saying that 76% of GC dont want reunification because that is what you want to believe. You know its not true but your a partionist at heart...dont tell me your not because we've all read your one-sided posts.

and because Brother decides to use the 'F' word in frustration at someone so ignorant as you, dont play the sensitive-card...im sure you've heard swear words before.

I would say part ignorance, part brainwashing and part bigotry. Of course these are just assumptions.

PS Have you told your daughter about me yet ;)
