Magik

the reason changes were proposed were: Tc used its veto, thus Makariose wanted changes claiming that Cyprus was ungovernable under such condtions, and that the wishes of the majority could not be stopped by the wishes of the minority......................Here is an example of democracy or so-called democracy failing......for a hypothitical example

What if the wishes of the majorty be that the minority work as unpaid domestic slave labour?

Under the 1960 consitution the TC community (the vice president actualy) had veto rights on a very small set of specific issues. The TC did block ratification of the budget at protest to the non implementation of the provisions in the agrement re seperate municipalites. This can be seen as a 'veto' but actually is not per se. As far as legisaltive changes go again there was no direct right of veto for either community. Either could retunr legislation to the parliament and in the result of continued deadlock refer it to the supreme court. This is what happend re the municplaites issue and the supreme court ruled against Makraios and he ignored the ruling leading to the resignation of the non cypriot supreme court judge. At least thats how understand things - of course I may be wrong or confused.

I have no solution nor have i ever proposed one. nor will I ever propose one.

Im not going to sit down with 12% of this - veto for that. 36% 65% - revolving governments adininitum for some-one to reject. Ive learnt from the last fifty yrs that no solution will ever be acceptable - My number one concern is that no cypriot is ever killed again for control of this island.

Solutions are for politicians to present.

Magik, it's too bad that nobody's interested in your proposal, although it was very reasonable and logical. Others just lost themselves in endless discussions...

Ok then,
What if the politicians agree on a solution that will require all the Cypriots to be mixed together in a similar way that existed before 1974.
Would you accept that, since you said that you do not personally have any ideas, proposals or even preferences?

Really?

So lets say tomorrow we decide to move back to our homes en masse (200.000 GCs). What are you going to do?

Maybe you will do this:

Maybe what you wanted to say is that your concern is that no cypriot is ever killed again for control of this island as long as you continue to illegaly control what does not belong to you?
