The Cypriots need to stop waiting for others to fix their problem and fix it themselves!

We are not expecting others to fix the problem, we just hope that others would stop creating problems to us, although such thing will not happen since certain others have stradegic interests in our island that they are not willing to give up.

If you have any idea of how less than 1 million Cypriots can fix the problem that Turkey (70 million) and UK (60 Million) are creating to us in order to serve their interests on our expense please let us know.

The best we can do for now is refuse to sign and legalize the crimes that have been commited against us, and hope that in the future the balance of power will cange in such a way that our enemies will find themselves on the losing side of a major war. Rhodes for example was liberated when Italy found itself in the losing side of WWII, while most of the Greek territories and islands were liberated when the Ottoman Empire declined. Of couse such things can take many decades and even centuries to happen, but as I said, if you have a better idea of how we can fix the problem now, please let us know.

You can when it comes to little red buttons, but probably not from a submarine.

But I doubt that will be a "major war" between states that would lead to the fall of the RoT ever - haven't you heard the UN, EU etc al have put a stop to that, additionally modern high intensity war may bring the fall of a government, see the Generals in Argentina post the Falklands conflict, but not the dismemberment of the state.

So where does this leave us the Cyprob. The GCs waiting for the balance of power to change (again waiting for something from the outside), RoT to disintegrate as per Yugoslavia (again something the RoC cannot influence short of using the gas revenue to massively fund the PKK). So the north becomes more Turkified, all the GCs become refugees by inheritance, and both sides move further apart.

Well then reach out to the TCs over the head of the TRNC puppet government and come to an agreement, but given the bile many members of this forum sprout towards anything TC, and a number of GC political actors, I doubt this will happen.

Stop waiting, push your leaders to find an answer, open inter-communal dialogue, sports and trade, visits to either side, stop eulogising those from each community that did harm to the other and their own, stop talking about martyrs. Generally try to build a Cypriot identity that is not Greek or Turkish.

Good luck.

What TCs? We can’t see any. The few that may still exist have become powerless and irrelevant.

The answer was given by the UN many decades ago...

RESOLUTION 353 (1974)

RESOLUTION 541 (1983)

The 541 resolution has been imposed and very effectively imposed on the Illegal Regime... it's the one that means no recognition of silly little dreams of partition.

What TCs would we reach out to? TCs like say Kikapu are only a small minority, the rest of them are not different than their leadership. But lets say they were more TCs like that and we could come to an agreement with them. Then what? Turkey would simply say that she does not recognize any agreement between us and any TCs other than the "trnc government". So no solution again.

Our leaders are not magicians to come with some magical answer, they are just people like you and me. If we can't come to an agreement here, then don't expect our leaders to be able to come with one.

I am sorry AWE but what you suggest is impossible to happen and after decades of failed negotiations we know this for a fact. On the other hand the balance of power does change, and countries do disintegrate. The Kurdish Nation is the biggest nation without a state. There are conflicts in Turkey with the Kurds and Turkey is also a historically unstable country (several coups etc). So the chances of Turkey disintegrating and having a different balance of power in the region at some point in the future are definitely higher than us coming to an agreement with the TCs. And just to clarify, I never said that Cyprus itself will cause Turkey to disintegrate or change the balance of power. Neither I am saying that others will do anything in this direction in order to help us. All I am saying is that if we are prepared we might be able to take advantage of such situation if/when it happens.
