There we have in a nut shell the Cyprus problem and the kind of mentality that has got Cyprus where it is today. Until those of us who want a better unified Cyprus learn how to isolate and marginalise extremist views like this and those that espouse them, on both sides, there can be little hope for a better future.

That is the difficulty. For years we have been told by words and by action that we are not wanted in Cyprus, that Cyprus is not ours.

Turks are ONLY in Cyprus because of Invading Cyprus - again and again! The most recent invasion being - NOW!

Ergo, Turks are NOT Cypriots!

No Paphitis we are not. That you can not see how much worse GiG is than me is part of the problem here (on this forum and in Cyprus in general).

Both sides have their roots in different civilizations. The Truth is the mentality of both sides, on a broad spectrum, runs in parallel and is different. Both cant be Cypriot. You cant be Cypriot and separate at the same time.

I will only view a "TC" as a Cypriot if they support a single unified democratic European state. They can be Turk with a Cypriot nationality if they want, but only as long as they support the EU acquis and democracy. Only if they support the end of Turkeys occupation of the northern third of the island and respect everyone's legal right to their property. Only if they drop the guarantor crap.

And all I ask in order to happily support that (single unified democratic European state) as the son of a Cypriot who spoke Turkish, is that if GC decide they want a future where they will not be Cypriot by nationality and seek to destroy the very existence of Cyprus as a single unified democratic European state in its own right because they are Greek, they do not do so without having to pay any regard for my wishes as a Cypriot who is not Greek and does not want to see the destruction of an independent Cypriot state and nation. Throw in not being constantly, relentlessly and repeatedly told that I am not a 'real' Cypriot and we are done, settled and can live happily ever after.

Well, everyone is going to be in it together. That is inclusion, that is democracy, whether the minority agrees or not. That is being Cypriot.

Anything else is separate.

It's not our "mentality" that has gotten us where we are today but the fact we were unfortunate enough to be INVADED by otto-Turks!

We can not simply be 'in it together' when what 'you' seek (sought) was the non existence of the thing we are 'in it together' as. Seeking the non existence of the thing we are 'in it together' is not inclusion, it is separation by definition.
