Our role here should be to educate the inquisitive public not beat them over the head and verbally abuse them for getting things wrong.

I must now suspend your license to practice in the CyProb for a period of one month and I will fine you with $750 which you must pay into my Tseri account. 8)

Fair enough, I accept the ban term, not the $750 fine, I'll buy you a few drinks in the future. I won't post for at least 1 month from today, and the 'dick' can have his last words with no response.

Au revoir.

European Council

Well perhaps the fact that the Council of Europe is NOT an authority for settling sovereignty and territorial issues has something to do with it... :)

Well, it is the authority for settling this kind of legal disputes.

B25 wrote:And you obviously as you keep quoting them as an authority. We can see that Europe is made of, corrupt politicians on Turkeys payroll. Watch them give her visa free travel with the conditions being met!

We would have to be off our heads to accept such a travel arrangement in Cyprus. Take them to your coward country re, keep them there, since you love them so much.

I am still not convince you are a Greek/GC.

You should have then denied going on trial. You just lost because legality was on turkish side.

I am not convinced that you are Greek, you might be an arab descendant.

miltiades wrote:Whether Turkey acted within the legal framework of the Zurich agreement or not it is immaterial since following the coup against the legal government of the RoC she would have have done precisely what she did did then in order to accomplish her well known goal of dividing the island.

Turkey is illegally occupying our northern parts and has the audacity to demand that fresh guarantor/ invasion rights are given to her now.

Come to think of it, Turkey is considered still by most nations as a ....democracy

We must never agree to Turkey being given fresh intervention/ invasion rights over the entire island.

I believe that the vast majority of indigenous T/Cs want nothing more than a united Cyprus with both Turkey and Greece playing a very minor role.

Well, it is not actually immaterial but nevertheless, i would like to point out that:
a)whether Turkey is a democracy or not, is not of our concern. One reason is democracies can be authoritarian and cruel as well. Second, we are not a role model for democracy.
b)I don't want Turkey or Greece to have any role, but for that to happen we have to make a deal that secures the future of TCs. Until that time comes, Turkish army should be here in Cyprus. We have to realize that.

Educate yourself...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Council_of_Europe

Nowhere does it say that they are an authority for settling territorial/sovereignty issues. That would be the job of the UNGA and UNSC.

No Cyprus doesn't have to do anything of the sort. There can be no special rights/privileges for anyone.

mistermax wrote:Until that time comes, Turkish army should be here in Cyprus. We have to realize that.

Should a superpower invade and occupy 37% of Turkey until the 12 million strong Kurdish "minority" attain special rights and privileges?

Surely if a mere 120 thousand TCs should have special treatment you'll have no problems granting the same for 12 MILLION Kurds eh...

The Court of Appeal in Athens further stated in 1979 that the Turkish invasion was legal and that "The real culprits... are the Greek officers who engineered and staged a coup and prepared the conditions for the invasion".

It talks about the legality of an INTERVENTION to facilitate the immediate restoration of the previous (and legal) state of affairs, but certainly not an OCCUPATION… let alone a 45 year one! :)

thats right, intervention was legal, occupation illegal.

But given that Turkey did NOT restore the state of affairs but instead opted to illegally OCCUPY 37% of Cypriot territory, automatically invalidates the very specific and restricted role that was handed to them in accordance with the Zurich agreements.

resolution 573 of the council of europe was passed in 1974 within months of the invasion and could not have possibly envisaged that there would be an ongoing occupation 42 years later.

This "intervention" was as resolution 573 states in accordance with art 4 of the Zurich treaty which if you read states "should be with the sole aim of re establishing the state of affairs created by the present treaty" (the constitution of the Republic of cyprus)

What about all the UN resolutions demanding withdrawal of Turkish troops

Ffs some people really should do some research before posting

Correct Riccardo, but a Turkophile will attempt to twist and misconstrue things and that’s why we are here to put them in their place! :D
