-If Greek Cypriots are allowed back into places like Kyrenia then Turkish Cypriots will be restricted to 8% of the land by value a nd will be a minority of less than 18 % as Kyrenia had a smaller turkish population than the rest of Cyprus pre 1974.

But how many GCs would return to Kyrenia after all this time,Agios???
If the condition to get your house/ land back is to live in the North or in the South for the TCs,the numbers might be accommodated.
I am suggesting that as an interim measure. It is better than the status quo, which is only hardening the ill feelings between our communities.
If a sizeable number return to their former homes on both sides, and fully participate in the political and social life of where they live, this will increase the trust and understanding between the communities.Unification might than be possible as a permanent solution. If things stay the way they are very few TCs will be left in the North within 20 years, and the GCs will be looking to negotiate a solution with 500,000 settlers. Not a good senario,is it???

Precisely, the Turkish Cypriot Yes vote has now been nullified and the Turkish Cypriots have no obligations under this plan whatsoever.

Nobody ever had any obligations to this plan apart from placing it in a referendum. It was just a plan.

The obligation of Turkey is to respect international law and the sovereignty of the Republic of Cyprus.

As long as Turkey does not respect the sovereignty of the EU member Republic of Cyprus as she is obligated, not only it will not be allowed to join EU but peace will never come either.

Birkibrisli, we have always been negotiating with Turkey. They are the ones who take all the decisions, not TCs.

Talat, Denctash, Pinocchio whomever, is just a puppet of Turkey.

Turkey simply chooses the puppet. "We want a tough fat puppet now. The problem is solved in 1974 - Take Denctash", "oh, it seems we still have a problem since RoC is in EU now, we need somebody that used to be progressive to match the new face we are wearing for EU - Take Talat"

You are not wrong,Piratis.

My point is that soon there will be very few people left on the north who would want reunification. With every passing year the number of settlers increase. One day they will be the same number as the GCs in the South.
And they will all have TRNC citizenship. With full voting rights. Then they might all vote for unification with equal political rights as they will be equal in numbers. They might even vote for a unitary state with one vote one value, under the EU constitution. What i am trying to say is the time is running out for Cypriots (both TCs and GCs),or rather the time is working against us Cypriots.I don't think you guys realise this. :(

Thank you for that insight. It must be odd living in a country that has constantly crapped on the land of your fathers. I bet you weren’t even born in the USA, just pretending to be “American”. Feel free to wrap yourself around that rag but do you have no shame in calling yourself Leonides.

I am who I am Michael. 100% Greek American and proud of it.

You see this world it so much different than yours. We are free to be us. We don't have to rely on the old ways that you have to. Here you don't get ahead in life with who you know it is who you ARE. No need for "messo" to succeed.

Where in the world can a Cypriot immigrant manage to succed like I have knowing no one? This country has been more than fair to me.

I am proud of my name and yes Leonidas IS my real name. I am proud of my heritage and I m proud of both of my countries. And whether you like it or not I am still Greek Cypriot. I proudly raise the Greek and Cypriot flags along with the American flag.

It IS a flag by the way not a rag. Of course we DID see the disrespect some of you show to the American flag and let me tell you. It does NOT help your cause one bit. How would you feel if you saw your flag being treated like that? Would you be on that country's side? Doubt it.

Millions of people respect it. Including Greeks here. Which by the way are I think at least more than 3 times the population of Cyprus.

What you see a crapping we see as helping. If you where not so blined with hate you would see it a help. Oh please spare me the "we don't need your help bull". You need the USA more than you want to admit it. And the weird thing is; The USA does not need you. Fancy that.

Just in case you do not realise it. The USA is a superpower. A VERY restrained one. Because IF it was another country after Sept 11 they would had dealt with things in a VERY different way. Screw the rest of the world. Nuke them arabs. YET we did not did we. So shut you mouth up and find someone else to fu*k with.

I am done talking to losers like you.

Note to ADMIN. Please understand that I see his comments as personal attacks and I have used a much restrain as I can not to call him the names I should.

To Leonida.
Everybody knows and respects what the USA has offered the world.
And since there has to be a TOP DOG in the world I prefer USA rather China,Russia or whoever. But it seems they are messing things up for example world polution amongst other things.
Now as for us Greeks it is quite obvious that USA interest are with Turkey. They need them more than they need us so the USA acts as their lawyers. And thats why my friend there are anti-american feelings here.

Are you for real,Leonidas?
The USA response to Sept 11 was very restraint???
25 international criminals highjack planes and attack innocent civilians, and the USA goes and demolishes a country which had nothing to do with the attacks, and you call that very restrained???
Do you know how many men, women and children have been killed in Iraq so that the USA's thirst for revenge is satisfied???If I were you I would hang my head in shame, not boast about it...

My point is this.
When the USA tried to build bases in Cyprus before the war Makarios told them no.
Before that Cyprus was not US friendly. You may remember when Makarios was called Fidel Castro. Because of his relations with mother Russia.

Again here the question is. What came 1st, the Chicken or the egg?
As far as the USA looks at things Cyprus has not been American friendly ever. And YES the Turks have some of the BEST lobbyists in the world. They are good at it.
What have we the Greek Cypriots done besides scream against the USA and burn or treat the American Flag with disrespect?

I ask this again. IF you where in the USA shoes would you support anything that Greek Cypriots are doing? Now or 40 years ago? Be honest now. They US does not need another Cuba in the world. Does it.

It is time that GC's realized that if they stay on the path they are there will be no solution. Well none that will not be forced at them.

Feel free, Mr “Leonides” you don’t have to ask Sirs permission to use expletives. That’s swearing to you. I would hazard a guess it might be limited to “f****** dude”, losers etc etc. You have a very dull imagination.
Well anyway back to the matter at hand. Your reply was of the classic Uncle Tom. But it gets worse. You fall into the worse of right wing diatribe that usually come spouting from the arse of the most backward reactionary Republicans. Are you trying to be more American than the Americans? I don’t know what you regard as success. Maybe it’s having a millions of people living on the poverty line or a healthcare system that relies on blood supplies from drunken sodden homeless people. A very restrained superpower indeed! That very same superpower that bombed Vietnam into the dark ages: or supported death squads in South America. I think I prefer not to have many dealings with US thank you.
As a post -script. You really are stupid, if you think this administration was going to “nuke” the Arabs. Why would they loose the one asset, (oil if your having difficulty figuring it out) that keeps the US afloat. They neither care about those poor wretches that died in NY or for that matter those that died in Iraq today.
