You're confusing me with your last post. Are you saying you support what you wrote above or not.?

I wouldn't mind to have what you say, but I wouldn't mind an "affirmative action" for president to gurantee that TCs have their fare share of presidents either.

How do you propose to do that anyway, by telling the GC's, sorry, you must all vote for a TC this year, because it's their turn to have a President.

If a TC was not a president during the last 4 elections then it will be required that all President/ vice presidents combinations should a TC for president and a GC for vice president.

As long as the Parliament is protected for both sides in passing or denying legislations, I don't think it's very important who the president is, as long as, he is not given powers to by-pass the Parliament.

President has certain powers of his own. He is not totally controlled by ther parliament.

I agree with Kifeas' Plan and think it could definitely work. However, Issy makes a good point, under this plan, will there still exist a federation, or two distinct administrative zones? If so, what will be their percentages, 80/20?

Further, this would only be one problem solved. But now what about the issues of settlers, security forces, displaced people etc?

My proposal on settlers would be this. If you were not born in Cyprus, are not married to a Cypriot, or do not have children that were born in Cyprus; then you must leave. Simple as that. Who agrees? This may be harsh to some who have been living in Cyprus for a long time, but at the end of the day, they are illegal settlers after all.

If we can agree on all the substantive issues, we can bypass our politicians and demand they put it to a referendum!

I think this is a reasonable approach, well done Simon. There are many posts from your fellow GC's who demand ALL settlers be evicted from the island, regardless of their status. This is just not right, its against all human rights and democratic values and needles to say inhumane.

I'm certain that the T/Cs would exercise sound judgment and arrive at a sensible solution to the Settlers question.

'I yearn for the time when party policies will be the voters choice and not the ethnicity.'

Miltiades i agree on this comment, and thats how it should be.

By the way i have a question if this sharing thing were to take place what would happen in parliament will they all be talking one language or turkish and Cypriot to each other because at the moment i dont think theres many people on either side that speak both languages fluently.
