As the city has stood derelict for so long now and no solution is in sight, would it not be a good idea to classify it as a monument to the destructive influences of the American and British foreign policies?.

We are all aware NOW of the chicanery and corruption that took place decades ago, the place is certainly a disgraceful example of political and military manoeuvrings and I think it should be maintained as a tribute to them.

Conducted tours could be arranged for fee paying viewers, the revenues collected, distributed to those who have suffered as a result of the cities demise.

What say YOU folks?.

Noble idea to turn the place into a memorial, at least part of it. But do not be surprised if the very people who engineered the demise of Famagusta are the nations that will benefitmost fromt he rebuilding. Most international consulting firms on major civil engineering projects are from these countries.

Just a thought on varosha, to help pay restore it.

There must be a lot of scrap metal i know that won't cover the whole cost.
Also someone said there were some old cars, action them off, pending on the cars maybe the cars will sell for a lot of $$

Great pics , I didn`t think the place was so big . Although very sad its also amazing .

no because ...the money would be next to nothing ...and it is not a monument to anything ...how often do you come to cyprus ?

there is not a piece of land they would not build on ....the ££££ land devlopers (scum in my book for the distruction of cyprus and their greed - which will end 2008/9) are waiting for the solution to the island talks and then the possibility of this area opening up .....
another concrete jungle for the TOURIST PROPERTY DEVEOPERS ...

Corroided scrap metal ..... have you been to cyprus ? the dust eats and destroys everything ...the life span of a solar panel frame in cyprus ...is 5 years !!! in italy the same is 10years

as i said ...i walked around the town ..i kicked walls and kicked through them ...i kicked a old renault in a street ...and the doors fell off ....
