Andros raises some interesting points. Not convinced that a tri-partite referendum will take place but option 3 seems feasible to me. There can , in reality be no argument against it. It works perfectly well in the UK where four different ethnic groups have their own 'state' and assemblies. Also, and this is vitally important for the Greek Cypriots to understand, the Welsh, Scots and Northern Irish have political equality with the English, despite being in the 'minority'. Thus a 'United Cyprus' can replicate the United Kingdom.

I do know, for a fact, that were a further round of negotiations in Cyprus to fail, a referendum will take place in the TRNC with the following three questions:

1: Do you wish to seek international recognition of the TRNC with unfettered self-determination ?

2: Do you wish to become a part of the Republic of Turkey ?

3: Do you wish to return to the state of affairs as per the London -Zurich Accords of 1959 and join the Republic of Cyprus ?

Mark my words, the above referendum will take place in the event of any failure to come to a mutually acceptable agreement. 8)

What makes you think the minority will allow the majority to dictate the terms?...hasn't worked in the past as we are kindly reminder day in day out...and it certaintly ain't working in "turkey=fascists state" as we speak...

Hey Boomerang, try and respond in a rational way eh ! You can't deny the British model. This should not be about 'minority' and 'majority' but about Cypriots. The Scots, Welsh etc have their own heritage and identity but share a common land. They are peoples of the British isles, just like ALL Cypriots are peoples of Cyprus. 8)

Bullshit!. Isn't Scotland moving towards separatism with England?

Option 3 is a no go as there is no guarantee that the northern sector will seperate from the Union down the track, and this time with recognition. It will be a disaster for Cyprus. Look at Serbia and Montenegro as an example.

I vote for none of the above.

Wrong!

Another historical revisionist that wants to forget they have only been on Cyprus a few hundred years.

You have more claims in Mongolia than you do in Cyprus, if you want to compare yourselves to the Scots and Welsh ... go seek East!
