I accept and acknowledge the bitterness of your community concerning Turkey's intervention in 1974 but can you tell me why my father and his father cried for joy when Turkey landed ?
Again you succumb to the now tried and tested view of the G/C community to harp on about majorities and minorities but you are going to have to change this mindset in order for a compromise to be made. This is a fact. Am I not as much of a Cypriot as you ? If the answer is yes then I am your equal. You cannot deny this and for once this is something that the G/C community has got to come to terms with.
Muzzy, as far as I and the rest of the GCs are concerned, your father was and is free to go to Kaymakli or Terra, anytime he wished, and most definitely his property is still there and in his name! He has never been denied his rights by any authority! What minority and majority are you talking about? I only said that you cannot claim the ownership of any place and run a referendum to determine its fate, in the absence and after its indigenous and legitimate inhabitants were expelled from it, and yes; north Cyprus belongs also to the 180,000 GCs which are the lawful inhabitants and own the vast majority of properties there -therefore you have to ask them as well; but it does not belong to the 100,000, or so, of illegal settlers from Turkey which you are going to ask their opinions in the "referendum" you suggest! It is as simple as that! No such referendum, as you suggest it, will ever receive and enjoy the slightest of legitimacy!
There are international laws and rules as to when a referendum by any group of people can be taken seriously and be respected! In your case, it doesn't qualify, for the reasons I have explained above! You are not the sole owners of that part of Cyprus, or any other part for this matter, neither those from turkey that you going to include in the voting have any right to have an opinion upon another people's homeland! Is this so difficult for you to comprehend?
