And now ... your solution to the Cyprus problem?

I do not wish to be another Confucius but I am fast heading that way :D

The problem is as follows. I could propose a solution that is perfectly sensible and workable. Great majority of GCs and TCs might even support it. But then you'll get the village idiots from both TCs and especially GCs (in this forum) who may well be in minority but who can muddy the issues by fanatic-nationalistic (as in mainland nationalism) nonsense that hols no weight.

I then have to go through the painful process of teaching these idiots what had actually happened in history and why the GCs and TCs have ended up where they are today. I then have to be a psychiatrist and urge them to admit the wrongs in the past to gain the trust of the opposite side if there ever going to be a solution for the problem and any realistic chance of a unification.

This is when the typical "macho" factor kicks in and I get all sorts of abusive comments as well as misinformed quotes and/or allegations. I start giving quotes from very reliable sources or sources that cannot possibly be biased in favour of the defended subject. Twisting of facts, willful ignorance and non-comprehension takes over - because the idiot at the other end likes to insist that "mine is bigger than yours", hence we are no longer discussing facts or making any sense.

At that point my blood pressure shoots up, I get hairs standing on the back of my neck, and my mouth goes dry with anger. Now, the way I see it; no one is paying me anything to shorten my life by finding solutions to problems, problems which politicians on both sides are getting a fortune to solve!

I then say "bugger it! PAY ME THE MONEY and the Cyprus problem is history". Of course they will not! So MY SOLUTION in reality is NO SOLUTION! :D

It sounds like you were just frustrated at your say-so not being taken at face value, and you having to justify your position.

Typical egotistical, narcissistic male approach to everything. :D

Putting two and two together ... the Cyprus problem's seeming intransigence, is just the manifestation for an overdue changeover of a decade

... just don't release her from her loyal servitude to you, today
