Apology accepted re... I also apologise for not pointing out the positive aspects of your plan. There were a couple of good points in there, but as I said, on the whole it didn't appear to reflect many of the concerns of TCs, which any future settlement will obviously have to (as unpleasant a notion that they may be to some GCs).

Nonetheless, I hope for a more constructive debate in the future.

Hey its my first post ....so here goes....

broadly i support the ideas here, but what needs to be understood is that simple majorities produce a 'tyranny of the majority', which inevitably be the 'greek cypriot' parties.
what should happen is the TC and GC Deputies should vote/amend laws together in one chamber, but when they do vote, the TC deputies have to have a majority, and the GC Deputies have to have a majority. Then at least both ethnic groups can say that they agreed on something....it rules out the possibility of majoritarian voting or voting on ethnic lines.

Also education....what if they are all taught in greek, but there has to be lessons in turkish, like if they were to learn another language? realistically, everyone needs to speak greek as it is the dominant language...but some respect has to be given to turkish due to the fact many TC do speak it(although many speak greek too!!!)
Language is a dificult one 'cos it has a lot to do with identity.

1) The Republic of Cyprus (78%) - Greek Cypriot
2) The Republic of Northern Cyprus (22%) - Turkish Cypriot

Two Republic States, two different languages, two religions, two cultures, two motherlands, two many differences. A Republic split would be the most logical. It has happend in the former Yugoslavia, Ireland, UK and Serbia/Montenegro - Why not Cyprus?

N-B - Please note that I believe the present TRNC naming should be changed to the Republic of Northern Cyprus in order to removal any Facist element to the naming of the republic states of Cyprus.
