In most TC families there is a not-so-well-hidden secret...usually it is a grandmother or great grandmother who was a GC...My first cousin is married to someone who's mother was GC...My cousin's children have GC first cousins who live in the RoC and London,and they are in close contact...But I am afraid I am not a very credible link either,Yfred...

This is where credible links are crap. Just listen to the older generation. They will tell you the truth. They are the ones that remember who married whom; as I found out two yeaers ago. I asked my GC cousins - we share same great grand parents - about Linobambaki too, they said definitely noooo. If one whether Greek speaking or Turkish speaking wanted to marry a GC or TC, they would do just that; whether male or female. To me that is credible evidence of intermarriage.

Hellenism is open to everyone who is Orthodox Christian and toes the right-wing line. Cypriot Hellenism is a very exclusive club where everyone else is considered 'foreign'. I've had to argue the toss about my own family, who got here approx. 150 years ago.

Who cares about genetics, I'm born and raised in the RoC, I did my army and had the nuts not to put meso, my dad got shot at (and shot at) people in 1974 when the Turkish quarter tried to take the port. I have one good friend who is TC, and a very very very respectable TC neighbour, and I spent last Easter playing with a beautiful Cypriot boy who's parents are GC and TC.
Why oh why would I define myself using another country?
I'll tell you another thing, ditch the Greek flags from our National Guard and watch as fewer kids look for excuses to get out of it.
