...big deal, from where you are standing, i ask: i am a Cypriot; you?

what is it with you, you don't like choice? is that it, that you are prepared to eat what is prepared for you, whatever it is? do you really believe that Turks should be what you are, and that anything else is anathema to you; doesn't that sound "Greek" to you? your dogma sucks to say the least, it is a failure we can see, from the Annan Plan, and from the regime in the north which is no rival (administratively) to the south (as corrupted or worse), a bigger shit hole in even more shit. and as this man said, it was just a proposal like so many others before it; new thinking is needed. enough. it is like i've said to you "white man", don't be callin' me a nigger, that hate is all you're looking for. i am black, this has to stop. "you" don't deserve to "own" Cyprus as "Turks", neither do the "Greeks", Cyprus belongs to the Greeks and all the others who belong to it, because they are Cypriots.

...of course you have nothing to say but the same old mantra, no change, nothing for the better, nothing hopeful, your solution is to just keep things the way they are; that's Ignorance (sorry vp).

bill cobbett wrote:Ok... Two Political Constituencies covering 17 zones for greek-speakers and a further 7 for turkish-speakers, total of 24.

Why 24 ... ??? Seems to be quite a lot.

(multi-zonal = 3,4 ,5...7, 15, 17, 24 etc)

...the number does not have to be so large, although, in an urban context, and as natural sanctuaries, if there are more, these choices, in effect visiting a Turkish or Greek Constituency (Maronite, etc.), is easier, one of them will always be relatively close. in my mind the number if plentiful stimulates debate in the National Assemblies, because their regions (island-wide) will compete for attention within it, and develop their own distinctions related to their geography and locale.

such a configuration of Government, where Individual Rights are supreme, and Citizens have choice when it comes to their National Identity, has many benefits. do the math bill, there will be about 12 million people on the island in 200 years, we are at the advent of the EU, and as you said, (or was it milti), there may be Peace in the Middle East in a hundred years, that's not long from now, this demographic split is not permanent, it will not be so easy to say, "he speaks Greek so he is "Greek", or he speaks Turkish so he is a "Turk", in any case.

...think, taxdollars, closer to the taxpayer; this is what Bicommunal/Bizonal is, or should be, all about.

Lordo wrote:rw there is a small loophole in your thinking as vp would say. what is there to stop gcs moving north in numbers and taking over the northern state. i assume you expect the ordinary tcs to vote for this.

let me help you. you can have anybody can reside anywhere they like and you can even have anybody cvan set up business anywhere they like. but i am afraid 95% of tcs will not vote for any setup that will allow the gcs to use their numbers and take over the whole island.

there is of course another solution and you can forget about zone, single zone and single government so long there are 800,000 tcs in cyprus, the numbers to be made up from terkey or any other tc who wishes to come back to homeland. and finally our patriotic friends will have one man one vote.

how about it

...think about it Lordo, think about what is natural. if you are Turkish but like the sea in Paphos you will move there; the choice is yours to live as close to work, or the sea you please, in a neighbourhood close by, of one Constituency or another. consider, you are a member of that body we call the displaced, it is your choice, at least for some, to return as Persons, as they left; it is at least Justice, seen, to choose to return to your home or not, to return to a community which can never be the same, but at least, rebuilt.

...under these circumstances, i ask if Turkey plans to send its hordes to the Greek Constituencies, it is just as ridiculous to imagine that people will willingly make their own lives miserable, by moving to somewhere they do not like because it would cause misery for themselves and others as well. In a Society where Individual Rights are held in high esteem, such behaviour is unlikely to thrive (although i agree it is a threat like anywhere else in the world, Ignorance is a horrible enemy).

indeed, like Nicosia, Jerusalem can be the Capital of many states, if there is one State as well. (greater Israel, if you will, is Secular, Jewish, (Christian), and Muslim, having enclaves over its broader territory too.

...go ahead, tell it to GR, and kikapu (although he does not disagree with me), and the kurupetos, that you are not afraid, if you agree with me then say it, "i love Cyprus".

my aim is true; you?

...few words and more cynical in tone Lordo; let the Greeks take care of their "Greeks", and the Turks take care of their "Turks", and in my Cyprus there would be a cultural mosaic of many Greeks and many Turks (and Maronites, etc.), as Cypriots, many physical parts, and as a State, Human, and multilingual (note: i did not say multicultural).

we should be able to provide for ourselves as Individuals; this is Freedom.

we should as a People, be able to provide for ourselves as Persons; this is Liberty.

...in my mind, the choices amount to a "Greek"/"Turkish" split where the occasional Peace returns to a "natural" state of War, or to live in a State where this distinction is used to define another state of Government, being Bicommunal.
