...so that these people at least receive the respect they deserve, not as "Greeks", or "Turks", as their murderers would have called them, but as they lived and as they died: Cypriots.

My intention with opening this topic is to give a voice to all those we should not forget, so that we can demonstrate that we do not forget. They paid the ultimate price, they were robbed of their lives.

I warmly recommend that we take the time to fill this topic, with posts toward their Honour, and against the Ignorance that uses their memory to divide us, hundreds of posts i imagine, of the thousands who died, and the thousand(s) that are missing; for many reasons, i think, a valuable enterprise toward Justice, seen.

...I am sure that we are able; their stories are already scattered all over this site, (and the internet).

They deserve more than this, i think we can all agree.

Cheers.

We are a small island inhabited mostly by G/Cs and T/Cs. We should get on together as Cypriots, respect each others right to be on the island as Cypriots.

...Lordo, calm yourself. Have some respect. Of all the places to pick a fight; and to what end?

...if only, those who saw, said.

The bones of a deceased 6-month-old baby and a pacifier alongside his relatives were discovered in a mass grave in Cyprus.

The child’s bones were found next to a pacifier and a key that appears to be that of his house, in a mass grave in the area of Trahoni, which is close to the border with Turkish Cyprus, according to Greek media reports. The baby, whose name was Antreas Kyriacou, was buried along with his mother, grandmother and aunts following the 1974 Turkish invasion of Cyprus

Inhabited mostly by GCs and ex-pat Brits. The TCs are no longer available.

The Missing Persons Committee (CMP) is set to begin a new series of excavations over the coming days, with focus on the Turkish Cypriot village of Maratha.

According to press reports, there are significant accounts that some 126 Turkish Cypriots, now on the list of missing persons, are buried there. The CMP has also indicated that excavators will afterwards turn their attention to the villages Aloa and Santalari in the north, close to Famagusta.

Excavations in Trachoni, meanwhile, are continuing. The Greek Cypriot committee’s representative in the CMP, Nestoras Nestoros, has said the remains of 15 missing persons have already been found at the site.

The remains of a second mass grave were earlier this month discovered at Trachoni village in the Turkish occupied north of the island. But the site today lies in a Turkish military zone and had been used as a shooting range.

Remember Evagoras Pallikarides.

Raised in the Pafos area, struggled against the Brits, joined EOKA as a fighter for the cause.

Those who remember him, honour him and despise the rat who informed on him.

I'll take an uphill road
I'll take the paths
To find the stairs
That lead to freedom
I'll leave brothers, sisters
My mother, my father
In the valleys beyond
And the mountainsides
Searching for freedom
I'll have as company
The white snow
Mountains and torrents
Even if it's winter now
The summer will come
Bringing Freedom
To cities and villages
I'll take an uphill road
I'll take the paths
To find the stairs
That lead to freedom
I'll climb the stairs
I'll enter a palace
I know it will be an illusion
I know it won't be real
I'll wonder in the palace
Until I find the throne
Only a queen
Sitting on it
Beautiful daughter, I will say,
Open your wings
And take me in your embrace
That's all I ask.

Probably his dying thoughts.........Respect and gratitude for his devotion to his country.

Hanged by the Brits, [grassed up by a callaborator], only 19 years of age and a True Patriot. 8)

In what the CMP hailed as an "important breakthrough", access will be granted over a three-year period, starting in January 2016, with 10 sites to be excavated each year.

http://www.newindianexpress.com/world/T ... 115049.ece

"The Turkish army has formally agreed to allow access to teams for excavations in search of missing persons in Cyprus inside military zones in the north," the UN-backed Committee on Missing Persons (CMP) said in a statement.

...most welcoming,

30 sites, what are presently known. One hopes that the work of returning the remains to their relatives will be done with dignity, that they will not have to report that the remains were disturbed.
