This invasion (July, 1974), the previous invasion(1964) and the subsequent invasion (August, 1974) were neither legal nor obligatory (nasty joke, huh) since the TCs pulled out of the 1960 Treaty in 1963.

Intervention may have been legal according to that Treaty, as the Council qualified, BUT, the treaty had been nullified. So by legal and logical deduction ALL three Turkish invasions were and are STILL illegal!

Oh that stupid judge didn't take your claims into account, huh? The truth is that the treaty has been nullified in your dreams only.

Turkey had an obligation to intervene and save the lives of TCs and communists that were arrested by eoka b gang members.

Which "stupid judge"? The Turkish one?

You really should stop acting like a brainwashed Turk if you want us to believe you are something else.

The reality is that the ILLEGAL INVASION (your choice of word) is STILL an illegal occupation.

Here are a few reasons why Turkey's actions are of warmongering and not peace:

1) the TCs nullified the 1960 Constitution by walking out. Turkey had no rights to a voice in Cyprus.

2) Turkey rubber-stamped this TC-nullification when it tried to invade in 1964 and was told to piss off by the USA.

3) the UN security council rewrote the "measures" (1964) which would be taken to maintain peace on Cyprus. These did not include ANY action by Turkey!

You will find no legal document which says "Turkey had an obligation" to invade.

Darling,
it wasn't an invasion..The nice turks just "intervened to restore the constitution. .its just taking a little longer than anticipated

The turks are struggling a little to understand the concept of democracy

It is taking GCs to accept that the future of TC children need to be taken into account.

Why are guarantees not needed? Care to elaborate?

Oh they are needed alright… only not in the way you seem to think!

You see there are 80+ million Turks not too far from where I’m sitting and there’s only 600,000 odd native Cypriots in a country 37% of which has already been overrun by the 80 million.

Now I’d like you to gather all your intelligence and tell me which of the two peoples are in urgent need of outside guarantees if they are to evade extinction.

Some years ago I researched Cyprus’ census going back to 1568 and based on statistical trends calculated that... had the Turks never come to Cyprus uninvited the native Cypriot population would’ve been approximately 4.5 million today.

Now use all your intelligence again and tell me who is the victim of genocide and in urgent need of guarantees!

Doesnt really matter what happened in 1500.

Doesn't really matter if there are one billion turks in a swimming distance.

Without guaranties, you will start ethic cleansing as it has always been the plan, as you did before.

You can't hide behind your finger any more.

In that case it doesn't really matter if there's ethnic cleansing either... if you don't care about my concerns then I don't care about yours sweetheart!

Too bad... move to Turkey where you'll be nice and safe.

Not my finger... I hide behind my G3 which I keep nice and polished.
