Insan wrote: What could TC leadership do while GC leadership had been preparing the ground of Enosis since 30's. Really tell me what was feasible for TC leadership to do under those circumstances? Accepting Enosis and being a minority, its future unknown?

Insan we are talking for the period immediately after the 1960 agreements. It's like asking me what else the TC leadership can do immediately after we find a solution for a United Cyprus based on their beleif that the GCs ALWAYS wanted the Tcs to have minority rights. Should they start preparing for a final division based on that beleif?
I would say the most sensible thing to do is to give the agreement at least some few months to see how it works.

PS. I think the information about Kutchuk bying of massive land is contained in the cyprus-conflict web site.

What’s paranoia is the Anan plan itself, not the decision of 76% of the GCs!

MicAtCyp wrote: The 3 Northern suburbs i.e Trachonas, Omorphita,

Alasya wrote: Omorphita and Trahonas, the"Greek-Cypriot" villages you
mentioned were in fact mixed villages , with a
substantial Turkish-Cypriot presence. Either you
deliberately left out this information or you were
misinformed or just plain ignorant. Anyway below are the
details for your benefit.

No comments. Either you don't understand what I say, or you pretend you do not understand.

Alasya wrote: The issue you are referring to is the alleged financial
settlement between Dr.Fazil Kucuk and the British over
land owned by Evkaf-the religious foundation. This is
another issue and has nothing to do with why enclaves
were formed by armed T/Cs.

Alleged??? First of all this is a fact. Second if you cannot see any relation between first forming a concentrated region of strategic importance, and it's later use as an enclave then there is nothing more I can say. You may go on for ever claiming that it just happened accidentally.

Alasya wrote: by the chain
of bad decisions and judgments that they made, they

I agree.

Alasya wrote: But as usual its more convenient to blame ordinary T/C victims of state terror than admit any wrong doing.

Where did you ever hear me saying that??? I never blamed the ordinary TCs, in fact I admit the GC side had the greatest part of the fault but not all for what happened against the TCs during those years.

Alasya wrote: What is true however is that T/C had very few
opportunites (unlike G/C) to get government credits to
build hotels, other businesses.

Hmmm that’s news! Since when the Government gave any credits at all to ANY private companies to build hotels and businesses? Tell me I am very much interested to built a hotel with such easy money.....

Alexandros wrote: Did the Annan Plan provide for 10 checkpoints after the
solution? It was my impression that there would be no
checkpoints at all, movement would be free. If you are
sure about what you said, could you refer me to the part
of the Plan that talks about this?

No Alexandre, the Anan Plan did not say anything about that. What it said at one page is that there would be no restrictions in movement across the island, whereas at another page it said how many days every weak or every year a person could stay in one of the constituent states, as well as which persons would never be allowed to cross!
Like I said many times in the past, the Anan Plan at one page may say something that is perfectly fine, whereas a few pages later may say exactly the opposite, or have provisions that totally overthrow the previous article.

You understand that without checkpoints it would be completely impossible to control the situation or even control the restrictions on settlement of people. And yes it is a fact that during the negotiations in Nicosia (before they left for Burgenstock) they were discussing -and I think they agreed- that the number of checkpoints would initially be 10. Please make a search in CyprusMedia.net for cross verification. Perhaps some members of this forum can verify what I said and save you the time.

In the end definetely the movement would not be free despite what the Anan Plan says.
Heres a very typical article to make you understand the contradictions of this plan.

Article 18 Freedom of Movement
1. Without prejudice to the relevant constitutional law, everyone lawfully
within the territory of the United Cyprus Republic shall, within that
territory, have the right to liberty of movement and freedom to choose his
residence.

Anyway brother, there's one thing I'm sure we haven't agreed on any point regarding the Cyprus problem, so far. For me, there's no need to prolong the discussions on any issues regarding Cyprus problem...
