Interest for solution gone?

I remember some years ago that the Cyprus problem was just there and nobody expected it to be solved soon. Many people were saying that it will never be solved. Then our EU accession and Annan plan came and many people thought the solution was near and were discussing this issue a lot. Now I think that momentum is lost and people don't think that a solution is going to come soon. Do you think anything important can happen in the Cyprus problem in the next few months?

After the failure of the Annan plan people lost hope that the Cyprus Problem will be solved any time soon.

Turkish Cypriots were hoping for a disguised partition that would give them all the benefits of partition + all the benefits of unification (EU, money etc). After the referendum they realized that what Greek Cypriots mean by unification is a true one country unification, not partition. Therefore they lost hope that this disguised partition is possible and now they are trying for any kind of partition, as they always did. So it is back to "normal" for them.

Greek Cypriots were hoping that with EU they would manage to get their human rights back, the Turkish troops out, and Cyprus re-unified. However the Annan plan was a huge disappointment for them, since instead of solving the Cyprus problem by restoring legality and their human rights, it was "solving" the problem by legalizing the illegalities. So now it is back to "normal" for Greek Cypriots as well.

I believe the "Annan era" is over. The solution to the Cyprus problem will take years and will come only after the balance of power will allow it.

Yes but what should we do until then? Maybe anything we do now will have no effect because we have no power but does that mean we should just sit and wait?
