From what I have read, the current Cyprus Flag was designed in just a few minutes by a TC art teacher. I think that the concept behind it is right and powerful, but I have my doubts on whether the TC leadership will want to keep it in the event of a solution.

The flag that was proposed along with the Annan plan was horrible btw. It reminded me of some remote African state :) In any case, what is important is the nature of the solution and not the flag.

As far as a federal flag option, I thought that option 3 sufficed.

Actually, an interesting option would be to keep the RoC flag as the Federal Flag - since it is so neutral in style and promotes the theme of unity - and then each constituent state can have its own flag as well. This has a precedent in other Federal systems, eg the US, where there is a national flag but also state flags as well.

Keeping the RoC flag would make the proposal more attractive to GCs, however I am not sure how TCs would feel about it. If perhaps it was pointed out to them that it was designed by a TC, then maybe they could gradually warm to the idea ...

I'm fine with the Cyprus flag and I voted for it. It is the Greek flag which is an issue for me.

i think some kind of modification is necessary for a new federal flag.

how about the "ROC" flag with blue and red stripes (one on each side)

ex: imagine french flag and cyprus map and the olive branches in the centre.

also i think UN proposed flag is pretty childish. it looks like fenerbahce and galatasaray colours put together. hehe.
