It was another balmy day in the Spanish capital as the Real Madrid squad were put through their paces.

As the training sessions finished, the players re-freshed themselves with a shower (calm down Brother!) and made their way to the canteen.

Raul, Ronaldo and Beckham sat at a small, round table in the corner close to the air fan and unpacked their lunch boxes (no Source, not that kind of lunch boxes. Unless of cause Linford Christie was at the table and ur mind may well have a legitimate reason for wondering if it was THAT lunch box that was being unpacked. But why would Linford be sitting at a table in Madrid with these footballers?)

I have digressed long enough. Back to the joke.

Raul looks in abject horror at the food in front of him. "Paella again. I'm fed up with paella. Everyday when I finish training, I come in here, open my lunch box and it's paella. I swear, if I get paella tomorrow I'm going to go to the top of our stadium and jump."

Ronaldo and Beckham looked at their Spanish friend but thought best not to comment.

Ronaldo sheepishly looked into his lunchbox and threw it back onto the table. "Chicken and rice! Everyday since I arrived at this club it's been chicken and rice. I don't even like chicken and rice. If I ever get the same lunch again I'm gonna jump of the top of the stadium."

Beckham could see that both of his pals were not in a good mood and kept quite. As he opened his lunch box his head dropped. (not literally dropped as removed from his head, but dropped in a sign of despair) "I can't take any more. Cheese and pickle sandwiches. It's always the same even when I was at Man United. If I see another cheese and pickle sandwich again I'm going to throw myself off the top of the stadium".

All three players left soon after and made their way home in a bad mood but said nothing of the incident to their partners.

After another exhausting session the following day, the players headed off to the canteen and sat at their favourite table. Raul was again first to his lunchbox. "Paella again!", he screamed. He then got up and walked across to the stadium, climbed to the top and jumped to his death.

Ronaldo couldn't beleive his eyes, "Chicken and rice again". The buck toothed Brazilian left his food and followed the same path as Raul to the top of the stadium where he jumped to his death.

Beckham pondered for a moment and then unwrapped his sandwiches. It would be the last time that he would stare at a cheese and pickle sandwich. He too made the short journey to the top of the stadium where he threw himself to his daeth.

That evening, Madrid was in mourning for having lost 3 of their Galacticos. Flags flapped at half mask at the Bernabaou while the President of Real Madrid annouced that the 3 players would be buried the following day at the same cemetrary.

Raul was the first to be buried. Mrs Raul fought back the tears and said to Mrs Ronaldo and Posh, "If I knew he hated paella so much I would never had made it for my darling Raul".

After Ronaldo was layed to rest Mrs Ronaldo sought comfort with Mrs Raul and Posh. "If only my darling Ronaldo had told me that he hated chicken and rice I would never have cooked it for him".

Beckham was the last to be buried. As Mrs Raul and Mrs Ronaldo approched Posh to offer their condolences they were struck by Posh's lack of grief.

"Don't look at me like that", Posh said. David always made his own sandwiches!
