Bloody big lemmings... plus lemmings are far cuter...

Apparently, it's also a myth that they jump off cliffs, which stems back to the Disney Film White Wilderness in 1958 that staged a scene in which lemmings followed each other over the edge. They've never been witnessed doing so in the wild. Weird how a Disney film can slander a species for 50 years

**lol** accepted, keep up the good work.

But I had to reply that way - needed to show that I'm a bit educated as well.
(at least when it comes to lemmings...)

This semi-myth dates from far longer ago than 1958. Lemmus lemmus (only one of many lemming species) periodically congregates in massive numbers in Norway, typically about every 5 years. Every 35 years or so there is a super-congregation, for an unexplained reason. When this happens, the food resources are quickly depleted and those in the centre start pushing outwards, forcing the peripheral ones onwards, often into the sea where they drown. It has been known for them to be pushed off cliffs. It is a myth that they commit suicide but it is no myth that zillions are killed during such a migration. It is a myth that Disney was responsible for starting the suicide theory, because I heard it when I was a kid, LONG before 1958. He may have propagated the theory but he did not invent it.
