Not wishing to interfere with either the current 'Appraisals' or 'Condemnations' of the 'Opening Ceremony of the Olympics' on another thread, coupled with the fact that my only opportunity to view the event was to watch a televised replay of it this morning (due to my being in a remote region where such luxuries as 'Television' and 'The Internet' are rarities) I DID notice something which struck me as quite amusing and I would like to share it with you all.

The LAST 'Team' to enter the arena prior to that of ' Team G.B' was that of 'Zimbabwe' and the enthusiasm of the orchestra to strike up the 'Fanfare' which was to announce the entry of 'Team G.B' was a little premature, the result of which placed 'Team Zimbabwe' on screen for the opening blast of the 'Fanfare'.

I thought that was quite funny, it crossed my mind that if 'Robert Mugabe' was watching (and no doubt he WAS since he must have a television and would be interested to see his 'Arch Enemies' of the 'Political World' assembled for such a spectacular event) he would possibly associate the 'Error' of judgement with the scene from 'Verdi's Operatic Masterpiece' depicting 'The Triumphal March' in the production of 'Aida'.

It has also been suggested that the only reason for why 'Zimbabwe' has entered the 'Olympics' is that 'President Mugabe' is hoping that his 'Team' might be able to win a 'Medal' (regardless of value) which will afford him the opportunity of telling 'Her Maj' and ALL those other 'Dignitaries' there assembled, that they may "Stick the 'Medal' (or 'Medals') up the same place as they were told to stick the 'Knighthood' which was taken away on the occasion of 'Nelson Mandela's 90th Birthday Celebration', when the 'Yanks' removed 'Nelson Mandela's' name from the C.I.A's list of 'Terrorists' as an additional 'Gift' to him".

'Politics' is a funny old game, the whole world is now watching 'Sporting Events' and the populations of each nation are linking arms in 'Friendship' BUT, one wonders just what further 'Schemes' are being plotted behind the facade of such 'Friendship', methinks we will ALL be aware of them e'er the festivities are over, THAT is how it works you see, put on the 'Blinkers' and enjoy the 'Telly'

...and the athlets too. I was reading somewhere that they have been issued 15 (one five) free condoms each (so a couple of them will have an availability of 30 all together first time around).
