Oh look, how sweet - the two low-life, swampy imperialists have joined forces to laugh at the locals.

You should get yourself laid dear. Might calm you down a bit. Then again, perhaps no takers nowadays? Gotta find an outlet I suppose.

Considering the ever-increasing number of cars on the roads each year, even repeating the accident rate of the previous year is an improvement!

People trying to beat the lights can be avoided by making sure YOU don't do it and proceeding with caution ..... keep your eyes open!

The most dangerous habit here, and far more frequently the cause of accidents than 'red light jumping' is the way the majority of Cypriots take roundabouts. Then you really have a problem because it is a dynamic situation over which you have little control !

When Cypriot drivers enter and leave a roundabout they do it hugging the centre island and often at speed. They then turn left, invariably without indication and cutting from the outside (RH) lane right across all other lanes of traffic to turn off at their chosen exit. Frightening to see ! :o

In my experience of driving around Limassol I have seen many more collisions at roundabouts than at lights.

Many also do not know how to enter or leave a motor-way! The concept of an 'acceleration' and a 'deceleration' slip road is not taught. They turn onto the exit slip road at the last moment and then brake, instead of leaving at speed and using the deceleration lane as just that! When joining many treat the acceleration lane as they would a road junction ..... they slow down rather than speed up to match their speed with that of the traffic stream they are joining.

Maybe this is due to the way driving is taught in Cyprus?

Dual carriage ways are another one, where someone will just sit in the right hand overtaking lane....I often see it on the Troodos road near the sports centre but I suspect many of them are Russian mothers taking their offspring to or from Heritage.

As for the middle lane hoggers on the three lane bit between Alhambra and Nicosia....doing 80....now I recall a post by a certain person who admitted she was reluctant to approach the the speed limit on faster roads.

I btw tend to stick to the speed limit ... Does wonders for the fuel consumption, as sticking to 100 I can get to Nicosia and back at 4.9l/100 but at 120 it goes to 6.2l/100.

Noticed btw that with the end of the week long anti speeding campaign most traffic is well in excess of the speed limit on the highway...on the 80 section through Limassol many cars are at 100 or more.
