Never had the need to use it in the last few months. I’m really good mates with the guy in the right hand seat.

2 peas in a pod, we are. Our families even hang out since we have had the exact same RDOs and Reserve Days.We are like a married couple.

I appreciate it’s a long redundant concept. The Flight Deck Navigator, post GPS/Inertial Nav. However, I do recollect a time when it was normal. Moreover - and until not too long ago - there was the Flight Engineer. “Roger” in Airplane

I’m pleased to say, at least, the days of having a dedicated radio operator up front preceded me,

Orion’s had a Navigator and a Tactical Opso who had mission command of the aircraft but not overall command of the aircraft.

Not sure about the Poseidon. Navigator would surely be redundant but not the Tactical Opso.

My old Sqn, 120, are now Poseidon. At Lossiemoth in Scotland. In fact, their CO was a student of mine back in the early 90s. :D

Number 11 and 292 Squadrons are also Poseidon now as well.

And no navigator but they have a tactical coordinator just like the former Orions.

Been on board a RAAF Poseidon (serial 004) and also was allowed to board a United States Navy Poseidon in 2018 at Edinburgh. Pretty amazing.

I still had an active security clearance at the time.
