19th Century Cyprus Engravings

Postby denizaksulu » Sat Oct 17, 2009 7:12 pm

A new exhibition sponsored by the Cyprus High Commission is taking place in London.

The exhibits will interest all Cypriots and Cyprus lovers. They are 19th Century engravings of Cypriot life, mostly never seen before.

The venue is

The Greek Orthodox Church
of St. John the Baptist
270, Wightman Road
London N8 0LY

Refreshments will be served and entrance is free.

The date is 26th October 2009

12 pm until 8 pm.

The collection owned by a Mr. Menelaou was first exhibited in 1984.

Luckily it falls on half term so I will try to make it.

Perhaps other forumers will also be there - 'incognito'.

The announcement for this was in the Turkish Language weekly - Toplum Postasi.

Wightman Road, I used to live just off it, in Bereseford Road. Where was the church in Wightman Road?

Wightman road, the Wood Green end on the right. Quite large with a large annexe - where the exhibition was held. Adjacent to Frobisher road.

Lausanne road was where Isa dayi from Sinde lived. A small world.

Don't you remember we discussed this before in another thread? You better not let Kickapoo interrogate you; you will be in real trouble. I was there in 1972 August, just in case Kicks is reading the post and pretending he is not on line.

They lived few doors away from where I lived.
