Poll, not pole, refers to the head. It was the tax you paid to keep your head, or tax calculated by the number of heads in a household.

How about all the old pensioners and the people that can just about survive its not fair... Any way your right its got nothing to do with Cyprus, I just wanted to let people know that well it is alot worse in the UK. Im actually thinking of moving to Australia.. :-)

Sophia1, the pensioners of the UK are living testimony to just how much gratitude the governments (which followed WW2) have shown for those who took part in it.

Let their present day plight be a lesson to you, have one thing in your mind as you travel through life, never place your entire trust in whatever politicians promise. (there is always a hidden agenda).

Look to yourself for any improvements you may wish for, the government may advance you One Pound but it will cost you One Pound and Two pence, that way it will ensure that your living standards drop and nobody will notice the difference. :wink:
